Any great Indian Restaurants in Redmond - Bellevue?

My son is over there and he is having hardest time finding good ones. There are more than a dozen, but he thinks most of them are lousy. He thinks only people who go there are lousy cook themselves, or their wives or mothers can’t cook.

If you like south Indian food, Udupi Palace is excellent - for Bellevue, that is. (Not comparable to what you can get in the Bay Area, or San Diego.)

Is your son going to school in Bellevue? Anyway, he sounds particular about his Indian food. I personally love the Saffron Grill in Northgate but I have American tastes.

Pick the most expensive. I reread your post and I was going to ask our son who was in Redmond last year and now lives near Udub, however, your son probably knows what a good meal from a mediocre meal. After eating out at colleges and internships for 6 years, DS is willing to cook for himself and housemates.

If your DS finds a great restuarant, please Q me, so that I can tell ours. He gets occasional visitors from MS-Bangalore.

Some Microsoft folks took me out to a place called Preet, near the town center in Redmond. I only had one meal there, but it was great. It must be a good place in general, though, because it was a regular spot for them.

This is a side comment. I usually have greater indifference toward Indian cuisine. I mean they all like spice and taste similar. So most Indian restaurants satisfy me as long as they have good naan and serve enough sauce to mop it up. The same with sushi. They are pretty much equal in all Japanese restaurants. Chinese cuisine on the other hand show more difference in quality and regional differences in my opinion.

before she went to India, my D thought that India Bistro in Ballard was good- ( I think it is yummy). She hasn’t been back yet, but in anycase it primarily serves Northern Indian food to my understanding ( their naan is particulary good).
( I don’t go to the eastside if I can help it- however I did just have what I thought was mediocre Chinese food in Bellevue- the location was nice though and my hosts raved about it- )

oh I did forget a friend of mine from a long time ago opened a place in Crossroads mall that is good- I don’t know what it is called- her name is Usha- but I have no idea if it is still there.

EK4: Yes India Bistro was good. You live in Freemont-Wallingford area. Chutney and Quazi are better. Quazi is not fancy, but the food is great. I liked both of them.

mini: Udupi Place is good, but my son is scared of them. They use nuts (he is allergic) in some of their prep. I will tell him about Preet.
