Any High SAT Scorers!!! What Test Prep Service Did You Use?

Price isn’t really a factor. I was just wondering what SAT prep course would help me the best at maximizing my score and getting in my dream school (Claremont McKenna <3.)

Any input is greatly appreciated.

You do not need a SAT prep course if you are self disciplined.
TAke a pre-test from a blue book or SAT collegeboard website
Learn the basics (princeton review/grammer book/writing/math).
Take a first test from blue book (without timing). Look through the answers and compare right and wrong answer with the solution.
TAke a second test same way.
I also had the SAT online version (buy from amazon…cheaper by $20)
I only used collegeboard SAT tests. I did one test/week for 2 months leading to the test.
If I missed a section, I went back to the drawing board and refreshed my concepts.
I took some practice sections independently.
I scored 2300+
You do not need test PREP. Yes, if you are not disciplined to find time, test prep may help.
The October test was similar to the blue book tests.
(I basically followed similar pattern to the silverturtle/xiggi method in this website forum) http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/sat-preparation/763933-everyone-read-before-posting-best-sat-prep-forum-faqs.html

This thread is about test prep courses, dude.

Let’s assume that it’s price which is not a factor for this thread, not self discipline.

Save your money… Test preparation is cost inefficient…

Any reputable test centre in your area will suffice. But point is - if you self-study (SAT online course, prep books, take some tests, read some SAT strategy book), lock your door and study diligently over weekend, you DO NOT need a test prep centre.

If you just can’t bring yourself to study, I would suggest a small test prep centre (or private tutors). Or just do SPARK notes SAT.

Honestly, SAT prep centres can only help so much. Where we are, people go to Elite test prep. PEople who went there or who self studied - there was NO difference.
Yes, if you are at 1600 to start with, no test prep will suddenly take you to 2300.

Any test prep or self study can result in a 300-400 point increase.

@tryingforcollege, where did you start, like what was your first score? You have achieved my dream haha, but if I had to guess I would say my first practice SAT would be 1800ish, but it could be 1400 or could be 2100, I don’t know until I take the first practice test. Because you all seem so adamant about using the blue book, I ordered it and it should be in shortly.

I had always been good in Reading/writing/ my math was weak. I started around 1900+ and I was hitting 2100 consistently last year. Then I buckled down over summer and bought the SAT online version and followed the silverturtle guide more or less. Again, people shoudl hope for 200-300 increase not a 600 increase.
