I have got 75% (90% in biology) in 12th final from U.P. board (Got less in boards as i was admitted in hospital due to chicken pox), 96.3% in 12th 1st term(1st in class of 46),11th final- 94.3%, 11th half yearly-93.7% (1st for both terms in 11th),When I was in in 9th and 10th I never really took studies seriously as EC’s was what usually attracted me, my statistics were- 10th ICSE board-62%, 10th half yearly 55%, 9th final 57%, 9th half yearly 54%.I took 1 year drop (gap year) and i will be applying to colleges i will be taking biology as majors next fall that means total 2 years gap, i have worked as hard as i could this year to make myself as competitive as i can, here are my stats-
My SAT score is-2280
Toefl-103
My Ec’s- Best bowler award of my stadium
1st in swimming competition
1st in dead lift championship (under 20 year age)
Winner of local science project competition
Other stuff-
I am owner of an N.G.O
I have given 300+ hours of tuition to 11th and 12th junior
500+ hours of research volunteering at Pathology
1000+ hours of being surgeon assistant
400+ hour of volunteer at hospital
12% as ABO (amway business owner) in amway
Do you think with these stats I can make it to Top 100 of US university?
Any hope in top 100 US UNIVERSITY after bad grades in 9th and 10th good 11th 12 am really depressed?
u r another one of those strange candidates with absurdly high SAT Scores, but low high school scores…Of course i would say you do have a chance within top 100…(depends though on which major u wanna take though)…ur ICSE, frankly, is really low…I am acquainted with Indian HS system of boards…(though i have idea only about ICSE/ISC and CBSE boards…)…That might hurt you coz US Colleges give nearly 50-50 preference to grades(the good ones) and SAT Scores…had your class 9 and ten scores been atleast 80%, then forget top 100, u could have scored several within top 20…but i would suggest you look at public universities, as they are more forgiving towards school grades, and more receptive of candidates with good EC’s…also try to enter a college through a weight lifting athletic program… Good Luck…

general science subjects are less competitive than Business, Finance, or Engineering…I think u will have easier time getting Biology especially with your experience as a surgeon assistant and research volunteering in pathology…(i hope u hav documentation proving that you hav got it, coz college might ask for it if they get suspicious). Even in Ivy League colleges like Brown or Dartmouth u have a well darn chance. But if you plan to get into a pre-health program too, with the aim of getting MD, or MBBS later, then, again u hav to face the same competition. btw as you hav improved a lot in 11th and 12th grades, the colleges would see that ur making a improvement over time, which they would like…go ahead and apply to two schools within top 20, two within 20-50, and four from 50-100…i would say u hav a very good chance from 20-100 colleges…
@Adwaya but in brown and dartmouth average gpa is higher will my volunteering compensate for gpa?
You said “top 100” yet you’re asking about Brown and Dartmouth. 
@Indian1997 Do you really have over 2200 hours of volunteering? That is a lot for a high school student, especially if you are already attending school full-time.
Note that competition from countries such as India and China into top US colleges is extremely stiff, since many schools set a cap on the number of international students they can admit. So you may be competing with other Indians who show great potential and/or have international awards.
@Indian1997: as i said, most people with SAT scores as yours will have GPA/Marks in high school to match too, and most of them wouldn’t consider going to Brown or Dartmouth…So you hav a pretty good shot at them…and believe me, having the Ivy League brand, u will hav a lot of opportunities in ur carees…these colleges generally are liberal, and look at all things, unlike far stiffer Ivy Leagues which places too much importance on both SAT and GPA’s…dont consider any CA colleges as they give priority to school results more… .btw this UP board…which board is this…? Is it an international board, or a part of the CBSE/ISC Board…

up board is state board which is tougher board than cbse or icse
@Indian1997 : nope…private schooling wont reduce ur chances…and about the UP board, if the colleges know that it is a tougher boards than the boards i know of, then u r in for a even greater chance…
