Do you think with these stats can I make it to Top 200 of US university with financial aid as my parents can give 15000-20000$ per year?

I’m confused. Will you be in college at all in the 2016-2017 school year?

@thumper1 I will be joining college in fall of 2017 what are my chances!

You need to find a college that offers aid to international students.

I’m not clear on your GPA. What exactly is it?

And what is wrong with going to college in your country!

http://gobama.ua.edu/international/admission-requirements/

information for international students from University of Alabama, which offers generous merit scholarships to international students.

I dont know how to calculate gpa for indian students as it is advised not to convert gpa into percentage @thumper1 in india education is not as good as compared to usa

And you know this…how?

In addition to looking for affordable options in the U.S. I would urge you to look for options in your country.

You have a lot of things on your resume. Look for colleges where merit or need based aid is given to international students. Some offer aid to international students. Some don’t. Some offer limited aid to international students. Some are need aware for international students.

Are you looking for merit aid or need based aid.

Need based aid would be based on your parent and your incime and assets. What is that in U.S. dollars.

Merit aid is based on your stats…usually SAT CR and Math total, and GPA. Or your ACT…but it doesn’t look like you took that. What was your CR plus Math total on the SAT?

@thumper1 India has reservation plus entrance exam is like out of 700000 only 3000 make it to mbbs plus education standard is advanced in USA.
I will be fine with both need and merit based scholarships, my parents annual income is 27000$ asset worth 300000$ i have one sibling who will be joining college in India next year.
I have score 760 in maths and 740 in critical reading (1500 total)

Look at university of Alabama. They award merit aid to international students. See what you qualify for.

Have to ask…if your oarent income is onky $27,000 at the most…how will they pay $20,000 for you to attend college.

@thumper1 By taking student loan from my country

Straight talk from me. You are asking parents with an income if $27,000 a year to take out a loan for,you to attend college…that is most of their annual income?

Sorry…I have an issue with this.

How much loan annually? $20,000? If so, I would, give, the SAME advice to a student here. $80,000 in undergrad loan debt is WAY too much.

Find a more affordable school.

@thumper1 No they have 60000$ in savings for my educations

You said in another post in another thread that your parents can afford to pay $20,000/year. If they also have $60,000 saved for you, that would be an additional $15,000 per year. So they can pay $35,000 per year? (Or maybe $40,000 per year, since in another post you said they could pay $25,000 per year?) So they will get a loan for the rest?

I was confused by that too. I took it to mean that the $20,000 they could, pay…part was from the savings and oart from current earnings.

Maybe the OP can clarify.

Actually out of 60000$ some is saved as fixed deposit so you cannot take that out until certain period of time hope that clears your doubts?

@Indian1997

You are not helping here. How much will your parents need to take in loans every year?

Really, if it’s more than $27,000 TOTAL for all four ears…it’s too much.

no they will be taking around 12000$ per year some financial aid wound be considered maybe need based

So…your parents can contribute about $20,000 a year…$12,000 of which would be from the $60,000?

You need a full tuition scholarship…at least.

Check all of the University of Alabama campuses…main UA which is in Tuscaloosa, UA Birmingham, and UA Huntsville.

Those could be affordable to you IF you get a full tuition award.

@thumper1 do you think with these stats i can get maybe 50% scholarship in any of these university?

@mom2collegekids

Could you tell this student how,to find the info about scholarships from all of the UA campuses?

To @Indian1997 I can’t tell you a thing without knowing your GPA…which I’ve already said.
