Any "New" Mail Order Treat Package Places for College Student?

Not for my own, but my nephew is a freshman and I wanted to send him a care package for his last two weeks of first semester.

“Back in the day” we did Cheryl’s cookies, Fairytale Brownies, etc. Haven’t sent anything in a while. Anything new out there that is easy breezy to send? Something in the $30ish or less category. I might also bake and send but just not sure if that’s going to get accomplished.

We have used Wicked good cupcakes - they come in jars and are easy to store in a small fridge. They had a great box for a birthday- hat, candles and cupcakes. Also a company called ma-ka-rohn for macarons. Both were a big hit.

Always and forever my favorite, Cherry Republic ?

Google college student subscription boxes. You’ll find tons of options. Most of them will allow you to send just one box; you don’t have to sign up for a subscription.

Big Fat Cookie. Omg. The most amazing cookies. And Treat House. Really special Rice Krispie treats.

Google a local bakery where the college is. They have amazing, fresh items for students. You can use Trip Advisor if you like. I recently used a local bakery at my son’s college town to send a dozen cookies just for fun. They arrived fresh and on time.

All great ideas! Thank you! Look forward to checking this webpages out.

Popcorn Factory has popcorn (duh) and other treats. They even have some containers with college logos (depends on the college).

You can go on Amazon and they have snack boxes or you can pick whatever you want and send it to arrive in a day or two. I’ve sent sleeves of nuts, granola bars, cookies, candy (and cleaning supplies, personal care items etc).

It is worth checking out what Costco has online, often with free shipping.

My kids liked Insomnia cookies. Many college towns have a location. I was not successful in finding local bakeries with deliveries in now three college towns, so I wouldn’t waste too much time searching for that. At a generally higher price point but great is Zingermans.

I was going to recommend Stew Leonard’s student care package, but it’s not on their website any more. That’s disappointing. I ordered it many times and always got effusive thanks.

This is more expensive, but similar, though without the granola my kids loved: https://www.stewleonardsgifts.com/gourmet-gift-baskets/gourmet-gift-baskets/stews-sweets-snacks-gift.html They “upgraded” the website and it’s now difficult to find what you’re looking for, btw (must be a trend in 2019).

I highly recommend nuts.com for excellent quality and shipping. This would be a nice care package for $40: https://nuts.com/gifts/baskets/wonderland.html

Just giving a +1 to ZIngerman’s in general. We are not too far away and Z’s is actually a twice a year stop for his family when they come to visit - his parents are U of M grads and no visit to AA2 is without a Z visit!

I would generally just fill a flat rate box and ship it off. Sadly, one of the addresses D lived at, two of her edible care packages never arrived but all her other addresses have been reliable places for me to mail edibles.
Once or twice, I sent her a box of Harry & David pears and she was thrilled!

My favorite for sending birthday cakes and other goodies is:
www.milkbar.com

Not specially college package but my kids love the Kodiak Cakes Kodiak cups. High protein breakfast and treats that just mix with water and microwave. https://kodiakcakes.com/

^^^The Kodiak cups are actually a great idea! I may put together a care package with a few of the mentioned items - and def include the cups!

+1 to Milk bar. Several of their recipes are available online if you want to make it yourself and ship. The corn cookies are divine.

I have never ordered from Zingerman’s but a visit to the restaurant is not to be missed.

My daughter’s boyfriend made us the Milk Bar Pie for Thanksgiving. Holy Moly it was great!

I sent donuts and cider in the fall and will be sending a carton of tangerines this week ahead of finals. Kind of expensive with the shipping costs but very successful with my son and his hallmates. There are also a couple of bakeries near the school that have posted about their services on the parents’ facebook page. That doesn’t fit too well with my son’s tastes but seems good generally based on what other parents have said. If your child’s school has a parents’ facebook page, maybe try asking for local ideas there.
