Hi, I got my letter of acceptance a few days ago, but no scholarship invitation. My school high school has yet to send Mid-Year grades, is there any chance that USC uses/needs mid-year grades before giving an invitation? If not, is there even a chance at getting one if you haven’t received it already?

The semester just finished yesterday at my S’s school so no mid-winter grades will even be available for at least a week or more. He did receive an invite.

Not sure about more coming - hopefully someone else can answer that one.

My letter telling me I got the Dean’s Scholarship came today!
I’m so incredibly excited, this is insane.

D finally got her letter regarding her Dean’s Scholarship. We are excited in So Cal. Hopefully more of you will be able to post that you received your letter too.

DEANS!!!I was SOOOO happy

Awesome! Congrats everyone getting the good news!!!

What if we haven’t heard back yet? I’m getting somewhat worried…

as1hou, USC is also currently sending out “sorry” letters to those who were not selected to interview for the Trustee & Presidential scholarships. We just receivered ours at home today but we are all still being considered for smaller scholarships (if applied by Dec 1st). You should hear either way soon.

Racedad-so sorry to hear that but best of luck for the Town & Gown :)

someone make a 2016 fb groupp

Thanks mums! Good luck to you also and congrats on the deans!

It’s still early and there are still plenty of local and national scholarships available! :)

Hi racedad, my daughter received the same “sorry” letter yesterday. We are in Northern California

racedad & goodchoices… my son received the same letter in the mail yesterday too (we are in UT). Still being considered for other scholarships as well. Fingers crossed! Congrats to all that have received their acceptance letters already!

we just recieved a letter UPSP regular saaying my daughter is not a candidate for a Presidential/Trustee Scholarship. they said 15% of the class was filled (total will be 8700)

got the letter too. does this mean that I am out of the Dean’s Scholarship pool too?

I think that releasing the various scholarship information is USC’s method of effecting EA without actually having EA. Still, I remain a bit baffled, in the context of what must be “aw just throw it over the transom”-type applicants in USC’s first year in the Common App, how USC will handle acceptances. USC doesn’t have a waitlist. So if the class of 2016 is radically over-subscribed, then they’ll just triple up people like other colleges have done with over-enrollments; but what happens if they are underenrolled? They don’t have a fallback, since they have no waitlist. Am I missing something? Or, are their predictive models that powerful and trustworthy?

grumpy34, I would say if you have been admitted as of today, you have a good shot at the “Deans” scholarship. After this weekend, not really sure of what has happened in previous years.

I feel a huge drawback to not interviewing for the Presidental/Trustee, is missing out on the two-day Explore. I wish more could attend this event instead of the one-day.

I applied RD and got the letter today about the scholarship. I didn’t get it, but this doesn’t mean that I’m rejected from the school right? And I thought decisions would come out in March but if you get the scholarship doesn’t that mean you were accepted?

correct mango15, it just means we didn’t get invited to interview for the Trustee or Presidential scholarship.

“USC doesn’t have a waitlist.”
They DO offer spring semester openings to qualified applicants, when they run out of spots for Fall openings.
