They declared Chapter 11 yesterday. This is not a shock, as they’ve been embroiled in legal and financial troubles for some time now.
We are existing lease customers. One of our inverters stopped working in May, so we’ve only been producing 50% of our system’s potential since then
. It took until July for a service tech to come out. We were scheduled to have the repair happen two days ago. Late Monday night, we got a text saying “we cannot complete this service request. Thank you for your understanding” ![]()
Although our contract states that SunPower will reimburse us some paltry amount if we don’t make our annual production target, given the bankruptcy news, I can’t imagine we’re seeing that payment. In the meantime, we’re still making lease payments (as well as actually paying electric bills and getting a diminished return on SREC payments). I’m thinking we need to meet with an attorney to see what our options are.
Anyone else in this boat?
