Any one tried "Painless Series" to improve in the writting and critical reading?

I found these books in amazon

the books have a attractive price, and the reviews for the books are good as well.
Has anyone used these books for the sat? their were lotta positive reviews but none
about prepping for the sat.

It’s better to adhere to some books that had universal acclaim, such as Grammatix, Rocket Review, and most importantly, the Blue Book 2nd Ed… Rocket Review is mentioned in xiggi’s method so it’s part of his method.

Personally, I don’t like Barron’s due to its wordiness. Also, a lot of the books are regarded as mediocre, such as the workbooks; some have mixed reviews like the Barron’s “thick fat book” for the SAT. Practice tests were worse than mediocre. They were fantastically written pieces of crap.
