Any Palestinians or other Arabs at Sewanee?

Hello- I’m a Palestinian from the South, I go to school up north but am considering transferring somewhere closer to home; Sewanee looks interesting, but I’m worried it might be too ethnically isolating/strenuous? I want to go to school with other Arabs, at least some. And I don’t want to feel pressure to hide who I am– which is often the feeling, being Palestinian.

You need to look elsewhere based on your strong preference for Arab classmates. Sewanee is not known for racial or ethnic diversity; in fact, it is known for the opposite.

There are Arab communities at some of the largest schools in the nation such as ASU. Also, although not in the South, University of Michigan at Dearborn has a large Arab/Muslim community. Also, consider some HBCUs–many of which are located in the South.

Emory has Palestinian and other Arab students.
