Any parents write the SAT or ACT ?

Grade inflation notwithstanding, I’m quite certain that school is tougher for my son than it was for me.

That said, I’m tempted to write one of these tests just to see how we stack up (tho’ I wouldn’t tell him).

Anyone actually done it?

No need to, for me; I already know I’d fail miserably!

Oh good gawd, no.

Here’s and easier option to see how you’d do: Sign up for the SAT question of the day. It’s free from the College Board. They send you an email every day with an SAT verbal or math question. You click on the answer and it tells you if you’re right or wrong (and if you’re wrong, you have the option to try again or see the explanation). It’s designed to help kids study for the SAT but anyone can sign up. I found it eye-opening. Basically at this point in my life if I sat for the exam I think I’d ace the verbal but fail the math miserably.

I had to take an exam to expand my teaching certificate to include 4th-8th math. I used DD’s SAT prep books and unused practice tests to prep. I was a very good review. By the end I was scoring over 700 but in the comfort of my dining room, not a test center full of teenagers! Plus this was several years ago.
I think I would do well on the CR part, but since they removed the analogies I doubt that I would do as well as I did in high school. Of course I took it on clay tablets with pointed sticks…

I took a practice SAT back when my kids were looking at it for CTY. Did better than I had originally (not surprising since they recentered the scores.)

I’m ashamed to admit I took a practice test and got a composite 34- and I got a 29 in HS in 1985. And my son isn’t so thrilled that I scored 4 points higher than he did!

This mom took it 7 seven times in one year - alongside her son.
