Hi, i’m an entering freshman majoring in Biochem/Chem at Revelle College, and I was wondering how hard is it to double major and still maintain a decent GPA.

If you double majored, did you have time for extra-curriculars and did you take 4 or more classes a week?

@everymoment - depending on how many units you come in with and how many you take care of through summer school/CC classes, biochem/chem really doesn’t take that long. the # of classes you need to take per quarter depend on (1) how many classes you passed out of (2) how many classes your second major requires. everyone’s different. the major requirements are on the revelle website, you can download those and start doing the math.

Hello ive been recently accepted into UCSD i got two questions:

1.) On the checklist thing on the admission website under housing it says that i haven’t applied for housing, but when i click the link that says “apply for housing today” it gives me the message:

“The Housing Office was notified that you were offered an admission to UC San Diego from the Admission Waitlist. Therefore, an on-time housing application has been entered for you. If you accept admission you should receive a housing contract offer in late May along with all the other freshman with on-time housing applications. If you do not receive a housing contract offer via your UCSD email account by June 9th, please call our office at 858-534-4110.”

Kinda confused?? What should i do??? anyone else have this message?

2.) On my preliminary financial aid i have various estimates given by UCSD however when i click on the "Access your Financial Aid Checklist on TritonLink to view requested financial aid information and documents which are due by May 1st. Select the 2011-2012 award year in TritonLink. " it says:

“We don’t have a record that you have completed a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the year you have chosen.”

anyone else have this problem? i’m sure i sent in my FAFSA because other schools and UCs acknowledged that i sent it in? the FAFSA website also has the school code for UCSD listed.

i got into marshall. i am considering majoring in visual arts media. can i do this while at marshall? also im a nonscience person, will i do fine at ucsd? are the science ge’s hard?
thanks

I’m at Sixth College but I’m going to be a science person. Is everyone in Sixth really artsy? O_o And I heard Sixth was nice and had easier GEs than some of the other colleges?

My girlfriend is a human bio major from Sixth and she had 4 other various science majors in her suite freshman year and they were not at all artsy people. Needless to say, there are just tons of science majors at UCSD, including Sixth.

I just recently got my admission letter from ucsd after waiting about a month on the waitinglist. Honestly, I never imagine I would get in but since I did, it was definitely a wake-up call for me. I am currently a senior in high school and I have 2 A’s, 2 B’s, and 1 F. The F is for my AP statistics class which is my fourth year in math. I already submitted my SIR last night but I’m really scared I might be rescinded because there is no chance of raising the F. I already talked to my teacher and he provided no solution. Also the UCSD admissions officer was rude. She told me that with an F, my application will enter the process of cancellation. No guarantee but still made it sound like a promise. Does anyone know the probability of me getting rescinded with an F in AP stats? Oh and I’m a physical science - undeclared major in Sixth college. Please I need your feedback

Hi! I got into UCSD: Revelle College with an undeclared major in social sciences. What does that mean? Because I really want to do political science! And I am so confused regarding the “exempts” and all that. What am I exempt for and how can I get exempted? Also, can I go for summer school and clear all those classes? Revelle has a lot of science classes, and I am terrible at sciences so I’m really worried.

Can students from a different college, lets say… revelle, come over to and maybe sleep over at another student’s college, at marshall, if the student from revelle live off campus? (as a freshman? )

Hi! I am a prosp. transfer into Bioengineering:Bioinformatics. I was wondering if somebody could explain to me what the program is about, and how different it is from bioengineering. i really want to do just straight bioengineering, or even biotech. Is it possible if i transfer in as a bioinformatics?

Hey guys so I was just wondering if some current students could please rank the writing courses for each college according to difficulty, I understand different people find different things hard but I’d appreciate just a general response. Also since I’m in Revelle I was wondering whether HUM is considered difficult because it is very time consuming or because it’s hard to get good grades (I really hope its not both).

^I would find that difficult to accurately do since no students has taken all six of the writing courses, but you can sure bet somebody will try.
