Trying to finalize The List for our rising senior and we’re shaking the bushes for Rolling Admissions schools, preferably ones that offer academic merit. Have already identified Indiana U.

sewhappy… IU merit is about 9k per year for a 33 act for oos and a possible 4k additional for honors…but thats 13K against about 30+K cost

I am sure a lot has changed in 4 years, but this might give you a place to start. Just scroll down until you get to the schools that offer rolling admission:

OP reporting back. Thank you everyone who posted here. It’s helpful. Some schools we hadn’t thought of.

If she can’t get her dream school then it might be nice to get a darn good school with merit!

Just keep in mind that reported merit changes year to year and it’s best to check the awards yourself. Previous threads can be very helpful however in getting an idea of which schools you might want to check out. Also, it’s common for awards to go to early applications/for there to be a cut off so watch dates (I know you were looking at rolling decisions, but for others reading).

Best of luck to your student, and good luck finding a school with merit/Rolling decisions. This was one of the best decisions we made. It took a huge amount of stress out of the process for my son. He knew very early there was a school he really liked, that liked him, that we could afford. It’s a beautiful thing!!

It’s true that the merit aid and admissions options change often. I’d have suggested University of Michigan, whcih was a modified rolling admission school at one time (if memory serves); kids used to be notified in batches. It’s gone to Early Action this year. It used to be said that the earlier applicants were in the best position to be evaluated for merit aid, and there may even have been a deadline for merit aid consideration. I don’t know if this will hold true with the switch to Early Action.

Pitt is a great school, generous with merit aid, and can have a decision in by October, which takes the edge off the rest of the season. Two of my kids applied and would have been happy to go there, but one got into her school ED and the other ultimately went with another scholarship offer.

sewhappy, what does your daughter intend to major in, and what area of the country would she like? Is she okay with snowy winters, for instance?

This doesn’t answer the merit aid question, but you can check the Common App grid to find schools with rolling admissions.
