Any regrets?

Ok so Carolina seems absolutely perfect for me in every single way. It almost seems too perfect. So I guess I’m just wondering if any current students have ANY regrets about going there. I don’t care if its just something trivial like the food is bad. I wanna know. Thanks in advance!

To be honest, the food could be a little bit better. But the same could probably be said of every college dining hall in the country.

As far as having regrets about coming here, I can say without hesitation that I have none whatsoever. That does not mean that Carolina is perfect however.

Carolina is a really liberal school, which is something I love. Unfortunately, some people get a little too caught up in that, and at times it has felt like people with more conservative views are afraid to share them. That is one aspect of Carolina that I’m not a fan of, but it is not a common thing. In general, Carolina is extremely open and welcoming to all sorts of people, and I think real progress has been made since the whole YWC incident.

I can’t really think of much else to criticize about my school though. I hope that just means this is an awesome place and not that I am blinded by my school spirit.

My son son loves Carolina but has found that many classes are not being offered due to the budget cuts. He is worried that the financial crisis will affect his education.

As someone who was dreading ‘having’ to go to carolina up until orientation week, I can say that I have no regrets whatsoever about the decision.
There are little things here and there, but that’s life.
It’s incredible walking around campus and being able to feel that everyone around you wants to be there. I’m actually fairly conservative, and was apprehensive about being here, but it hasn’t like, ruined anything.
If you have any specific questions, ask away. I love carolina, and I actually blog for the student admissions blog, [Tar Heel Blog](http://www.tarheel-blog.blogspot.com), and so I will talk UNC for as long as anyone will listen.
The only things I could think of off the top of my head are: having to live in the dorm furthest away from, well, everything…but there’s buses all over the place so it hasn’t been that much of a pain; the Daily Tarheel basically writes about the same thing every day but just changes the titles…that’s all I can think of. Oh, and the only other thing would be an addition to having to live in HoJo-it’s close to the hospitals, so ambulance and fire truck sirens are pretty frequent. Not exactly a deal breaker.

I’m a current student, and I echo NewJerseyMom’s concerns. Budget cuts really seem like they will undermine the educational quality of the school.

I have to agree with wjhsxc about the school spirit. After dropping my son off at UNC in August, we continued to UVA for a student tour, as my daughter is a junior in high school. I’m sure people love UVA, but we definitely thought school spirit was higher at UNC.
