Hey… I’m a new user to FB (yea… pretty late)… Are there any privacy/security issues that I have to watch out for? Thanks !

There are some things you really might want to keep private. For example, if you are “friends” with any of your relatives i.e aunts, uncles, MOM, you might want to change who can see what pictures of you. There may be some pics it’s better your family doesn’t see, lol.

how about the beacon thingy?..

anyone else?

emm…don’t let the option of allowing evyerone in ur network view u…in that way, say if u r in a major city network or country, it’s not quite safe I guess.

if you ever add people you don’t know very well, you can put them on the limited profile listings and select which things you will allow them to see on your profile. Its prolly best not to have your home address/number up there at all on your profile, even for your friends because facebook is way easily hacked

If you have some pictures that you don’t think your parents should see because they are indecent ( drunk pic, sex pic and videos), I think that you shouldn’t even put them on facebook. Once you put them there, you can set your privacy so no one close to you can see them but when you post them online, they might be there “forever”. If you end up in trouble because of some pictures you post, whether you like it or not, your parents will have to know because they will be the first persons to stand with you and help you deal with the issues. So my best advice to you is to never post anything comprometing. Don’t let your friends post them online too. This is because these imgaes might come back and haunt you in ten years.

Don’t post nasty things on the walls too. You never know who will be reading them.
Set your privacy so if someone google you, your facebook page won’t pop up

Don’t expose your whole life on facebook. There are some matters that won’t need to go on a wall. Just send an email to friends when it’s necessary
