Are there any moderate priced sat academy’s in Korea? Either Korea or S.California would be my choices but I need help!

Define “moderate.” Are you talking $20 or $2000? Ask around in your friend group/the school and see what other people have used; they are the best source of referals and testimony for you. However, self-studying usually helps a lot, and don’t hesitate to ask your English teacher(s) for help with the CR/W sections.

There is an online course on the official SAT website for $70 :

[SAT Practice Tests - Official SAT Prep Course & Study Guide](<a href=“The SAT – SAT Suite | College Board”>Product listing)

and a free online course on:

http://www..com/ google: I need a pencil.com

Blue book is great for self-study, and my daughter likes Direct Hits for Core Vocabulary:

[Amazon.com: Direct Hits Core Vocabulary of the SAT 4th Edition (9781936551057): Direct Hits, Ted Griffth: Books](http://www.amazon.com/Direct-Hits-Core-Vocabulary-Edition/dp/1936551055/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1332452831&sr=8-1)

Also, silver turtle has a great prep guide on CC:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/sat-preparation/955109-silverturtles-guide-sat-admissions-success.html

All of the above links (except for the official college board site) are ones I first encountered on CC. There are probably even more I haven’t seen yet.

Keep looking, and good luck!

There are plenty of tutors who work online so you can find help anywhere! I happen to be one of those tutors, but there are many others. The previous suggestion about the College Board online course is a good one, too, and definitely budget friendly. Good luck!

it’s not a moderately priced academy but going to elite helped me a lot…

eliteprep dot com

As far as I know, most metropolitan areas in Korea (especially Seoul, Busan, Daejon, etc.) have a plethora of SAT prepping hongwons. In fact, I’ve even heard of Korean-Americans going to Korea for the summer to stay with relatives and go to SAT hongwons.

If you’re in California, I would definitely recommend Elite and TestMasters (the rigor of both is key to their successful results).

As for Korea, on the other hand, try contacting some (I’m assuming your Korean, by the way) of your other friends studying in US universities. I’m sure at least a few of them personally took SAT hongwons or know people at their current institutions that have gone to SAT hongwons.
Also: http://www.elit**********/sub/locations.php Elite SAT prep has locations in S. Korea as well!

While most people on this site like to almost idiotically keep worshiping the BB (which is a great study guide indeed), I do believe the routine practice hongwons force you to undergo followed by intensive review may be best for those without the militaristic drive to study hours on their own with no ‘immediate’ gratification.

Elite was pretty good back in the day. It’s been outpaced in recent years by higher priced boutique places that have far more advanced approaches. That said, it’s probably still fine, depending on which branch/teachers.

I’ve lived in Korea and moved to the US last year. I’m a high schooler by the way.
A lot of SAT hagwons in Seoul are pretty expensive. Some good ones are Recas and Elite. Other famous places are Ivyline, Blackboard Academy, Stevens, Sehan, Hackers, Princeton Review, etc. A lesser famous place that I’ve gone to was Edumost, which was okay.

Hope these helped!

Of those, only RECAS and Ivyline are any good (and they’re not that good). PR is terrible. Steven was good 7-8 years ago. (Caveat: I run an SAT place in Seoul, but it’s not a cheap one)

more around 2,000 to 3,000

elite prep was close to 5,000 in korea :((

out of those which ones are the ones that teach all three subjects? for example math, reading, writing etc. And are they cheap? like around 2,000 ish?
