Any schools that match these criteria?

-In or nearby a city
-Offers significant merit aid
-Preferably not anywhere in the South
-Students actually want to learn
-Students are generally not party-types

I think Case Western might qualify. What kind of majors are you interested in? What are your scores and stats?

Well you can virtually avoid the party scene at any school, and most students at universities do want to learn but perhaps there are certain areas where students are more eager/ passionate… Example: Political Science majors at George Washington as compared to Political Science majors at Caltech.

I would say Boston University but what do you plan to study in college? This could give a better rec for your preference " students actually want to learn."

You really need to post stats for us to make recommendations for merit scholarships.

Until then…

St Louis U

I’d suggest Tulane, but that’s in the south

AzSt

keep in mind that most schools (Eastern, western, southern and in between) that have strong sports programs are going to have a “party element” - the two things tend to go “hand in hand.” But, that doesn’t mean that all/most of their kids “don’t want to learn.” LOL

However, the heavier partying kids, tend not to major in the harder majors, so if you were at a “party school,” but majored in something like math, physics, engineering, etc, you would be surrounded by kids who “want to learn.” Also, schools that have honors programs may be party schools, but they have many academically strong students.

Unweighted GPA: 3.85ish and have taken all AP classes since junior year. Got 5’s on four of them, a 4 on one of them and a 2 in Calc AB.
ACT: 31, SAT: 1410

I’m very much OK with honors programs as long as they’re not less than 200 kids. I don’t want to be in class with the same 50 kids for four years.

Can’t help too much, but you might consider U Michigan.

Tufts, Holy Cross.

Haverford; Swarthmore; Ursinus; Drew; Carnegie Mellon

Not trying to be ig’nant but y wouldnt u want to get hella wasted
