I’m looking to replace my dead Enviro steamer floor cleaner. The J. C. Penney flier I got today has a Shark “steam pocket mop” for $100. (It’s $160 on the Shark website but no one seems to sell it for that price.) Penney also sells the original Shark steamer for $60. Is the fancy version worth the difference? Any recommendations? (I’d be using it on tile and sealed wood floors.)

Not an owner, but LOL @ the title. Perhaps it is the front runner for the CC “title of the week” award! ;)

I’ve seen it sold at Costco. One of the reasons I favor them is their no Qs asked return policy. I’d look there 1st. I bought one & then returned it (unopened) & went back to using our Roomba to keep our floors clean–it is self-propelled.

The Shark is a steam cleaner, not a vacuum cleaner like the Roomba. It has glowing reviews in the JCP website, but I’m always a little suspicious of those.

Not to turn this into a Costco thread, but I never found my membership to be worthwhile. Giant sizes of stuff don’t work well with my empty nest, and the rest is too hit or miss. Add in the crowded parking lot, masses of shoppers, screaming kids, and the difficulty on figuring out whether I’m actually saving any money when I buy 60 rolls of toilet paper–it was a big meh to me.

Deja vu…here’s a thread from a few weeks back:

Darn it, I thought this was a Hockey thread.

I have the Shark steam pocket mop. I bought it about a year ago to replace the earliest version Shark, which I had for a very long time (I applied too much force and snapped the handle in two). I like the steam pocket version even more - it’s a bit heavier and it has a larger water tank. The Shark steamers are fantastic for tile and sealed wood floors - they clean and sanitize with relatively little effort. For my wood floors, I use a little Murphy’s squirt and mop, then go over it with the steamer - makes the floors clean and glossy.

Thanks Gourmetmom.

sk8rmom–thanks for the link, but that thread didn’t address choosing between the two models.

A shark went by me when I was kayaking this summer…oh, right. Sorry. Not that kind of shark.

I own and LOVE the shark Steam and Vac. It is lightweight and works so wonderfully on my title and hardwood floors. You should see the dirt it picked up after I used it in my new home…the previous owners should be embarrased. I definately recommend!!

Can you explain the process on the steam pocket mop and/or the Steam and Vac (2 different types???)??? You add water? Cleaner? Plug in? How wet does it leave the floors??
