Oh and I am going to maybe apply ED.
Thanks!!

Haha don’t apply ED. You might take a spot away from me next year XD. Your stats look good though

GPA and ec wise, you’re solid. But a large part is SAT and the subject tests, so start taking those ASAP.

Also, which school/major are you applying to? Necause that would also affect your chances.

If you can get solid test scores I think you’ll have a good shot ED. RD is really hard to predict because there are so many qualified applicants and so few spots. There are a lot of qualified people in ED too, but it seems that solid stat and EC people will get in then compared to the randomness of RD. Take the sat/act/satii and see what happens though.

@YuhikoJay I would apply to trinity- I want to major in economics and minor in chemistry.

@patriotsfan1 So I took that SAT II of World History and got a 760. I am going to take math 2 at the end of this year- shooting for a 750+.
What kind of SAT do you think I would need- for ED and RD? I am assuming the RD would need to be higher…but I am probably going to end up applying RD.

@1995Andrew- How solid of chance do you think that we would have if we applied ED? …I am assuming your stats are on par or above mine…

@patriotsfan1 Would you mind listing your stats or just a brief overview…since you got accepted?

Sure!

4.0 W GPA (Pretty good prep school and upward trend)
33 ACT, 770 USH, 730 Math I, 5 US AP, 5 Lang Comp
ECwise I was heavily invested in a sport and did pretty well in it, leadership in a few clubs, and a few internships

Definitely send the 760…if you take the ACT you need 2 SATIIs.
SAT/ACT scores could easily vary, bit if you wanted to be competitive I’d say you’d need a 2100 for RD. Higher the better, but to have a chance, and it still might be slim, I’d say 2100. I think to really have a real shot in RD youll need a 2200ish, obviously the SAT isn’t everything and scores can vary, but you get the idea. If you apply ED 2100 is pretty solid though

Thanks! Did you take the SAT at all? And what is a good ACT score…for ED or RD? As far as heavily invested in a sport- do you mean high school and club? How do you think that my ECs stack up? compared to yours and anyone else you know who got accepted… Thanks so much and congrats on getting accepted!!

Which school is the acceptance rate higher?

My stats are pretty much like yours. I think we’re on the borderline. We may or may not get in. XD Do you think you’re applying ED?

Ya I took the SAT and didn’t break 2000, but I didn’t send it (honestly think the act is a better test). If you go back and find the 2016 ED thread you can see stats of like 30-40 acceptees. Some people had in the mid 1900s and then some were in the 2300s/34-35, so it varys and even people with 2250s got denied. I’d say 32+ would be solid for ED, you’d probably need a bit higher for RD. The middle 50% score is 32-34 I believe for acc acceptees who sent their ACT.

Pratt has a higher acceptance rate but it’s much more self selective.

Probably not. Don’t worry. :)

I think you have solid chances for RD. I just want to say one other thing. Take both the ACT and SAT. I know that in Cali most only take the SAT, you might end up scoring much higher on the ACT AND if you send the ACT you do NOT have to send any SAT II’s. I ended up sending a 34 ACT and I only took the ACT once during junior year. I also only took the SAT once and it was in the beginning of sophomore year (I had absolutely zero prep or studying), but I only got an 1810. But a 34 is about equal to a 2280 I think, so it’s definitely worth it to take both. On the other hand I have friends who have gotten much better SAT scores than ACT scores. It all depends on what type of learner you are and how much time constraints affect you during tests. On the ACT the reading/writing questions are slightly easier than on the SAT, but you have much less time per question. Also, the ACT has a “science” section and I love how you take each subject in one big chunk instead of splitting it up, others disagree with me on this last point. The math is basically the same on both though.

Thanks for the advice. Yeah, everyone here pretty much just takes the SAT, and the SAT IIs are a pain. Did you prepare a lot for the ACT to get that 34?
