We’d like to go up to NYC for my daughter’s 18th birthday and see the Lion King (her choice). Specifically, Sunday afternoon March 29. Does anyone have good suggestions about what websites are good for buying discount tickets? We don’t want to do the last-minute ticket booth. Thanks!

Some shows will have discount codes which can be used on the ticketmaster site. I suggest googling discount broadway lion king and discount code lion king. A few of these sites require that you subscribe to get the discounts, and this puts you on an email list (which you can then unsubscribe after you get the tickets you want). You should not have to pay full price for the lion king
I tried broadwaybox and the weird thing is that their tickets were MORE expensive than the full, official price. I kept going back and forth to check it, convinced I must be reading it wrong, but I wasn’t. It makes no sense.

My pleasure. ITs been a helpful site. Several yrs ago we got 2nd row center tix to Hairspray. We were practically looking up their skirts, and with Harvey Feirstein, that wasnt such a pretty site! 
Thats odd, Sans Serif. Never had that problem. Its been a while so not sure I am remembering, but is that the site tht also lets you see the view from the seats?
You will likely have difficulty finding discount tickets for The Lion King. Even at this time of year, Jan. and Feb., when ticket sales are usually down, The Lion King almost always runs at near 100% capacity. It is why it is rarely/ever even on TKTS.
Have also used Broadwaybox but agree that Lion King seats will not be available there, other than at premium pricing.

The other thing…order your Lion King tickets asap. The show sells out almost every performance. I’ve never seen it and I’m willing to pay full price. There are never multiple seats together available when I can go. And March 29 Isnt that far away. Are there tickets available for that day?

Ahead of time, there really are no options unless you want to get the discount partial view student tickets. But the best thing to do is to go to the large ticket booth in Times Square. You can but evening tickets and if there is nothing there, there are a plethora of other plays to see and things to do if it doesn’t work out. The Lion King is one of the biggest plays on Broadway, if not the most famous. So discount opportunities are few and far between. If you know anybody who works for ESPN, ABC, or Disney, they could help you out.
Getting discount tickets to Lion King will be difficult. Discounts for shows can be had on sites like Broadway Box or on Playbill, but none are there for Lion King. There is also a newer site called Today Tix which offers discounts to shows but just within the week prior to the performance. For example, for this coming Sunday’s show, there are discounts on Today Tix for Lion King (though still not cheap, but somewhat cheaper than full price) and so that is an option the week of the show to check on Today Tix. The other options are either to pay full price for Lion King or else select one of the many other wonderful Broadway shows, many of which are listed on the discount sites.
That’s because there are no discounted tickets for TLK. If you want tickets, you are going to have to pay full price and if you decide to do that, you should order ASAP as this is a very popular show and at that time in March a lot of people are visiting the city on spring break so it will be sold out fast. TLK, as with many other Broadway shows, sells a good chunk of its best seats as premium seats which leaves far fewer at regular price than in the days prior to The Producers, which started that practice. Balcony seats are probably somewhere in the vicinity of $90-100 and that may be what is available now other than the premium sections.
There were plenty of seats on the official site. Mostly around $200 apiece. I’m going to take a look at all the links you guys have provided, but I’m also going to see if there are any discounts for Wicked or Hairspray and see if I can convince her to go to one of those. lol
But I think she really wants Lion King. Sigh. I have a daughter with expensive tastes.
Wicked is another one that will be challenging to find any discounts. And Hairspray closed years ago! 
I’ve used an app called TodayTix - free. Very easy to use. Discounts vary by show. They stand outside with your tickets at a preset spot so there’s no hassle.

Actually, the full price for Wicked was cheaper than Lion King. $150 vs. $200.
We pretty much never pay full price for Broadway shows. Not something my parents consider in the budget. When a family member of mine started to lose eyesight and really wanted to see the Lion King, we paid full price for it. It’s not a show you can count on seeing for a good discount.
