Any Suggestions for Merit Aid?

First of all, I would like to thank you in advance for any suggestions you may have considering my academic future. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for schools that I strike a fair balance between academics and merit aid.

School…
Rank: 1/63
GPA: 4.0UW 4.42W
Hard Courseload, classes at local CC and Carnegie Mellon

EC’s - Fairly standard. Nothing stellar, but not lacking either.

Tests
SAT: 2300 800CR 700M 800W - I’m retaking for the math, which I typically consider my strongest subject
SAT IIs: Math2 - 780, US History - 800
AP: US History - 5 (only AP offered to non-seniors)
National Merit Semifinalist (218 PSAT)

So far I have this list, which will probably become a little less top heavy onceI do some visits:
Princeton
Stanford
Harvard?
Olin
Harvey Mudd
Carnegie Mellon
Case Western
Boston University
Scripps

I’m thinking that I have a fairly decent chance at significant merit awards from the last 3 - if this is wrong, someone PLEASE tell me. Thanks!

just fyi. for hmc, you need an additional SATII science subject test.

Go look at the parent pages. It’s there for you. You look good.

Scripps and Case are a relatively safe “merit match” but neither are full tuition, check out the lastest Mudd post about Corporate Scholars. There are other great suggestions. You will be competitive at all merit schools. I’d suggest looking at Harvey Mudd College, Emory, Vandy, Case, UMiami, USC, Tulane, Wash and Lee, Rhodes, Furman, URochester, Trinity, Rice, Boston U and if you like lots of separate apps LOL Wake Forest, Richmond, and WashU.

Just a hunch but I’m betting Case, URochester, WashU, UMiami, Emory, Vandy, and BU would be a merit great list for you. But I might try for HMC Corporate scholars myself.

My pre-med D with similar stats (Val/35) took a full ride at Rhodes over the biggest scholarships at Case and UMiami, Scripps, and Hamilton and over FA deals at Yale and Amherst , so I have some idea what you are dealing with in your quest. Good hunting.

Thanks for the input - especially the links to the other pages you have posted extensively on. I appreciate very much!

Check into Marquis Scholar Program at Lafayette

i think penn state maybe (especially if you are in state) but other than that just look for schools that give cash based on gpa/rank and SAT scores. if you find a few you like you probably will get lots of cash

The links to the other threads were great … I’d also suggest you search for threads with titles containing “Merit Aid”; there have been quite a few great discussions on this topic. Congrats to your accomplishments so far … you’ve done a great job in HS … and this could/should open a ton of doors for merit aid. I’d actually suggest an approach slightly different. I would not go looking for schools with merit aid and then seeing if you like them. Other than most of the top 30 most selective schools the rest of the top schools generally provide merit aid … and given your record you’re a great candidate for this merit aid. I’d suggest looking for your best fit school and then seeing if it does not have merit aid. Turning the search around this way will focus on the schools in which you are the most interested without a lot of wasted time (since there are so few schools without merit aid)
