I’m a senior in high school looking to major in mathematics in college and was wondering if any TTU grads could give their opinion on the rigor of the college. I have a 36 ACT and would like a very rigorous program, but my family can’t afford many other colleges. My other options are Auburn and Clemson, but they’re both a little hard for us to reach financially. Can anyone give advice or input on how satisfied I would be with TTU?
See if you can enroll in the Auburn cooperative program. You will work your way through.
My brother graduated from Tech with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He got a wonderful education and has never had difficulty with employment. He’s worked for TVA, Boeing, and Oak Ridge Nat’l Lab throughout this career. Additionally, I work for a defense contractor who hires many TTU grads. It’s a fine school.
Thanks for the replies guys! Also, I know TTU is great for engineers, but because it’s a smaller school and math is typically a less popular major, I was wondering they would be able to offer as many classes as some other larger colleges would be able to. I’ve checked their website and they only offer some higher level courses once every 3 or 4 semesters, which could be a problem, especially if not enough people sign up and it gets cancelled. Does anyone have experience with the math program at TTU or know someone that has that can shed some light on how the size of the program affects it?
