<p>If she’s on the waitlist for her #1 choice, have her stress she will attend (subject to satisfactory FinAid, if applicable) if admitted. If she’s already admitted to a great LAC, she should, imo, try to figure out her priorities and the pros/cons as much as possible before writing the waitlisting school.</p>
<p>It may help to have her GC call the admissions office of her waitlisted school to get a sense of her chances. Perhaps the GC could also inquire about any perceived weaknesses on your D’s application so that they could be addressed, if necessary. Good luck!</p>
