So, I’ve been depressed for a while, and think I should do something before I destroy every relationship I have. So any tips/links that you know has worked for some people? I dunno which ones are good or not.

Thank you.

if you have insurance go see a therapist stat! maybe they will recommend a psychiatrist, but try a therapist first (someone with lcsw, mft credentials). And work with them, if you dont have insurance. Depending on the state youre in, or country… Well I am from California and I know there are a lot of resources and FREE mental health services available. I can send you some links if possible.

Im diagnosed with major depression, adhd. and have been getting treatment for roughly 3 years, finally its under control!

But for immediate help… try some exercise, get some sun, it really does help to be active. Work on your sleeping schedule as that can help a lot. Also your diet, if youre depressed your either overeating, undereating, oversleeping, undersleeping, your over or under something…

there are many services available, just find the right fit for you. and dont be embarrassed or ashamed or guilty about it, its amazing to get help for yourself.

also depends on relationships, it is probably not all youre fault, although it may feel like it.

I agree about seeing a therapist and listen to what they say. The truth is that the teen years are not easy. There is so much pressure coming from all sides. Your parents want something, your friends are pushing for something else and then you mix in a significant other or the lack thereof, and that will bother your brain from both sides.

What you absolutely must realize is that things will get better. I had a hard time remembering that when i was a teenager. I used to feel like i would never feel better. I wrote a lot of fabulous emo poetry as well. The poetry was nothing to show anyone else but it did help me to get through it all.

Teens have hormones that are changing. Maybe you have already heard this, but it is important to realize what the hormone levels can do to you. They have a definite impact on moods. So just keep telling yourself that things will get better and you will feel better. I recommend exercise too. Start walking or better yet, jogging. The physical exertion will raise your endorphin levels and that makes you feel better.

As someone who struggles with this too but has been unable to seek help (parents think this is a made up condition) I agree exercise helps. Eating right does too. On the tough days I try to think about reasons I like myself and my life and think about good things the future may have in store.
