Any way to cut the cost?

<p>I applied RD to Chapel Hill and I really like the school, but my family won’t qualify for much fin. aid even though we can’t afford the OOS tuition and room and board. Is there any general scholarship or fellowship available for someone like me that would cut the cost to 15k or less for an OOS student? </p>

My son was accepted Early Notification and is in the same boat. He really likes UNC and has good stats, but he wasn’t offered any merit $. I don’t think the stats matter all that much (like at some state schools). Guess nothing special about him jumped off his app. I think the scholarships are based on other factors and the academics are just part of the picture. </p>

<p>My son is still interested in UNC but merit $ may play a hand in his final decision since he has cheaper options - but he won’t give up on UNC and even plans to overnight it soon. I think he’s hoping a scholarship will suddenly descend upon him but I think his opportunity may have passed. Good Luck. You stand a good chance since RD scholarship offers haven’t gone out yet.</p>

<p>Thanks jerzgrlmom…I’m in the same situation in terms of cost. I have quite a few possibilities for full rides/tuitions at good schools, but none so far at great schools like UNC-Chapel Hill…anyone else?</p>

<p>I agree with previous posts, probably OOS acceptance, merit $ is toss-up.<br>
Son was accepted OOS but did not receive any merit $ or honors offer with similiar stats to you:</p>
