Anybody going to one of the April programs?

I was recently accepted and plan on attending the school visit program on April 10-11. Anybody else going to one of the April programs?

I want to, but I don't know if I'll be able to make it. It seems so much to plan to get there, from NM.

i'm pretty sure im going..not sure which one though...

does anyone know if they can help with the traveling expenses?

^I dunno. That'd be nice.

I want to go to the April 10th one, but I go to France/check out of school a week later, so I'm not sure if I'll be able to. Aww.

I don't think they pay travel. Sorry folks.

That kinda sucks. I know CMC helps pay for travel sometimes for kids who can't afford it, and they also fly in scholarship finalists, so that they are more attracted to the school. Tis sad... I'll have to decide without setting foot on campus : (

What are the weekends like? Are they really structured? Are they just high school kids getting drunk? Any input would be helpful

they're pretty structured. there's a fair amount of freedom though, so you can do whatever you want if that's what you're there for, but if you want to actually learn about the school then follow the schedule

I seem to remember that the April overnights are Thursday-Friday. Thursday is pretty structured-- classes, tours, informational meetings, student panels, etc. Thursday night is an RSO (club) fair and maybe some other kind of admissions-sponsored party.

Later on Thursday, there will be big frat parties going on, where everybody who thinks that parties at the U of C are nonexistent will think otherwise--- and then they will come here and realize that the mayhem of those two prospie Thursdays is pretty uncharacteristic of a typical Thursday night here :-)

Most houses will probably have something for prospies to do during their overnight-- maybe movies and board games in the house lounge, Manhunt on the the quads (which I did with prospies last year.... maybe this year we'll have a big, interhouse game going), going downtown, and other sorts of stuff. If your hosts or lame and/or have a huge midterm the next day, find your own fun!

Do people usually bring there parents or go by themselves?

yea...that's what i want to ask..and if the parents they have their own thing and are separated from the student...?

I seem to remember that people do either. Parents are NOT going to come with you to class and are NOT going to stay with you overnight in the dorms.

If your parents are intent on coming with you and they want cheap hotel reservations close to campus, I recommend...

-- International House:
;/a>

-- University Bed & Breakfast:
;/a>

-- Ramada Inn:
;/a>!

I'm going to be at the overnight on the 10-11, but I'm not going to be getting there until later, I get to the midway airport at 12:30... will I miss a lot about the school in that time?
