After reading some of the posting we can conclude that there are some models to avoid and other models to love…
Let’s talk models efficiency…Mom103 can you please tell us the models with poor lasting batteries.
I love the 3 roombas the same, but if you ask me to choose I will say I like them in this order:

1-My favorite of my 3 favorites is my red roomba…cannot find the model. Will let you know later…it is my favorite because the price and because it seems it cleans even better than the 560, which was my first roomba and was more expensive.

2-Dirt Dog (yellow roomba)- reasonable price and even though it is for the garage or deck… I use it only inside the house…it is a sweeper but does a great job!

3- Model 560: kind of expensive it is roomba vacuum cleaner. More than a year…not problems but because is more delicate have problems with a brush at the beginning, something easy to take care of with the company. Great roomba too!

Actually, I think the battery issues are just battery issues. I’ve had problems with some of my batteries not charging well over the years as well. I’ve also had problems with one roomba’s quick charger & other auxillary chargers (didn’t quickly or even slowly charge after a while).

Since I only have one working roomba now, I’m happy with it. It’s the “scheduler.” I got it from Costco when it was on coupon. It is somewhat delicate, but otherwise works fine. Have never used the scheduler function or remote control.

There are competing brants sold elsewhere, such as Sears. Sharper Image used to ahve a competing brand as well, but I didn’t like it because it wasn’t slim enough to fit under as much furniture as the roomba.

You guys have to go to You Tube and type in the strip “roomba cat” and get that video of the cat riding around on the roomba & whacking the dog!

Hubby calls the Roomba “the cat,” and had to remind D to “put the cat out” when she was sleeping in the room where the Roomba docked over the Christmas break. She was fast asleep at its customary time to go off (a bit after 10am) and would get VERY annoyed when it went off. After the 2nd time, she regularly remembered to put it outside her door so it wouldn’t go off to disturb her slumbers. S liked it to go off so he MIGHT wake when it wnet off & still has it set to go off at that hour M-F.

Hope you like Roomba as much as we have. Glad the dogs are tolerating it OK.

We had two, both have died. The original (gray) Roomba got clogged with cat hair (we had a long-hair cat) way, way too easily, and I spent more time detangling the rollers than I would have spent vacuuming. The red Roomba was a little less subject to getting clogged, but not enough, and the invisible wall did not work well with our stair arrangement, leading to several catastrophic falls.

I love the idea of the Roomba, but I wouldn’t spend money on another without some high degree of assurance that it would work better.

On our hardwood, I’ve found that the extrawide swiffer sweepers let me quick dustmop the hardwood in just a few minutes.

I have one that has been sitting on its charger for about a year. My husband got it for me as a gift too, and I, too, was mildly insulted. I used it a few times, but have gone back to regular vacuum cleaning because that does a better job.

We’re just glad that the Roomba does the vacuuming because no one in this house enjoys doing it and it best of all, it doesn’t stir up dust in the process. It really works for this household & I’m keeping the packaging so when it finally dies, we can just take it back to Costco & get another one.

Have bought a replacement battery once from iRobot for a prior model Roomba. It cost about $60 and prolonged the life of the machine another 6 months or so.

I had a bad experience - it wouldn’t hold a charge more than 10-15 min. Called the company and they sent a replacement battery that maybe lasted 20 min. Threw the thing in a closet.

I have a friend with 3 who loves them - so maybe it is just bad luck.
