For music history, theory and composition, Brandeis has one of the best programs in the country. Because of this, a music degree from Brandeis is well-respected everywhere. There is no performance degree, just a BA, but for a small school there are lots of performance opportunities and very good private teaching, especially in strings and voice. Strong choral program, good orchestra and serious chamber music. The facilities are nice, with a lovely concert hall, decent practice rooms and classrooms with wall-to-wall windows, full of light. The music professors are the finest anywhere and truly care about their students. It is a very friendly and welcoming place.
