anyone asked to repeat grade????

just wondering if anyone had been accepted and asked to repeat a grade… please share your story thanks. If asked what did you or would you do?

ther could be a bunch of reasons why you would be asked to repeat:
-if you are an athlete, the coach may be thinking an extra year of growth would help your performance - very common
-the school is trying to build a class - your strengths may be under represented / over represented in one class or another
-there are likely more openings available in a “younger” class

When I was in BS (ages ago), one of my best friends had repeated freshman year - he was more mature, more focused and more driven than most of the class. I didn’t realize he was a year older until we were seniors, but I think it contributed to his success at BS and beyond. My son repeated coming out of PS to help adjust to the increased work load - this was a HUGE benefit to him as the extra year of maturity (both physically and developmentally) has enabled him to thrive in the BS environment. It is a great idea if it is financially feasible and you are willing to spend an extra year in school.

I was asked to repeat a grade at my interview.

I was asked WHY I wanted to repeat a grade at my interview.

Being slightly old and mature for your class is often better than the opposite.

I had been young for my class through about 7th grade.

A couple years before I went to Andover, however, I had gone to a boarding school in Austria and was fully immersed (no English spoken anywhere!) for that year, and did not advance that year.

So when I did arrive at Andover (as an Upper, in my case), while the fall term was interesting learning that I really did have to study for the first time in my life, it wasn’t a huge wrench. So there is lots to be said for the process…
