We’re planning a trip for this January. Haven’t been to the islands in over 25 years. One reason is that we’re really not “beach” people…prefer hiking or biking and other adventures. So St. Lucia seems to fit the bill.

If anyone has been there and has tips on places to stay, restaurants, and adventures, pass them on! We would prefer a condo type arrangement with a caretaker on site for help if needed. Don’t like big resorts and want to avoid all-inclusives. We haven’t made any reservations yet…although we’re looking closely at Marigot Bay.

Tone, you’ve come to the right place. My family had a great trip to Seattle last summer thanks to input from the CC community. I wish I could say I’ve been to St. Lucia, but I will check around for you and follow your posts as well!

It has been exactly 19 years ago that we went to St. Lucia, so I can’t be much help with the where to stay question. Two of my favorite memories are a helicopter tour of the Island and sailing down the coast. It is an Island with much more to offer than beach.

Other times we did a boat charter trip that allowed us to make our own itinerary. We’d get a catamaran with just a captain. We sailed out of St Thomas but I seem to recall you can leave out of St. Lucia (which I would suggest due to safety concerns).

Thanks! Well…OK…I guess we’ll rely on tripadvisor which, thankfully, has lots of reviews!
We will likely choose one of a very small group of condos in Marigot Bay. Nothing fancy, not expensive at all, but with a gorgeous view and a resident couple who takes care of everything for you. We will be going to the volcano and hiking to the top of the Pitons!
