D has two lovely big windows in her new Brooklyn apartment’s bedroom. Two lovely, big, completely uncovered windows. She’d like room darkening cellular shades, but her budget is small. Has anyone had a successful experience with any of the online companies like Blinds to Go? That site alleges that they will replace items for free if you measure wrong, which seems like nice insurance against ineptitude. Any recommendations? Given her time constraints and location, a trip to Home Depot or the like isn’t feasible, so an online source seems to make sense.
I recently purchased eight “top down, bottom up” shades online. One of them was poorly made and hung unevenly, and the vendor promptly replaced it. It was cheap and fast. I’d do it again. I don’t remember the name of the company but if you want it, pm me and I’ll dig it up.
I bought top down/bottom up shades for our kids from JCP online several times and was pleased with them. Their curtains have often had uneven hems and other problems, but their shades have been fine. Smith & Noble is another online window covering retailer that seems to have nice products. I’ve only bought from them once.
I used Blinds dot com and they had a local installer come and measure for me (I was convinced I’d screw it up). He was in and out in 10 minutes and then came back to install them when they were ready.
