Anyone chance me plzz =))))) I'll chance you back!

Hi all,
I am currently a junior in a pretty competitive school. I just wanted to know what are my chances of getting into these schools.

Schools I am applying to
Stanford
UC Berkeley
The Other UC’s of course
(I also want to note that my dad went to Cornell, but I am not sure about the “legend” stuff)

Anyways, let me start off by saying that I lost my hearing due to an accident. I know this isn’t going to help me in the admissions process but I just wanted to show you how hard it has been to keep up my grades, etc. I’m not an idiot to believe that I will be accepted by these schools. I don’t want to go out of state because I am not sure if I will get a roommate that will play pranks on me, since I’m deaf. Also, it’s going to be tough at night and during the weekends. If I, hopefully, get accepted into one of these schools, I can come home everyday (I am assuming).

GPA
-Freshman year
Took an accelerated class; received a 4.0 the 1st semester. The 2nd semester was when I lost my hearing, so my GPA fell down to a 3.8.
-Sophomore Year: 2 honors and 1 AP class; 1st semster was a 3.7; 2nd semester was a 3.8; on the AP exam, I got a 1 due to having an extremely bad day.
-Junior Year: 3 AP classes (our school does not have a lot of AP); Currently, I have a 4.3. The 1st semester has not ended though.
-Senior year: TBD

SAT scores
CR: 590
M: 640
W: 690 (12 on essay; its out of 12)
I know this score sucks, but I plan on retaking it and hopefully upping my score by 100-200 points.

I haven’t taken any SAT II’s yet. I also plan on taking the ACT soon.

EC Activities

  • Sacred Hearts Community Service (was one of the youngest at that time to become a leader- basically I had to tell people what to do and how to do stuff. I did this throughout middle school. I had to stop since I moved far away. IDK if I can add this though to the application)
-Library volunteering (throughout middle school; Not sure if I can add this too)
-Kaiser Permanente volunteering (for 2 years during high school; I might start again if another spot opens up though)
-I also went to Stanford and “worked” in a stem cell reserach lab for 4 days in the summer. I am going to volunteer in the same place after my junior year.(if they let me, of course)

Clubs/Activities
-Red Cross Club- Member
-CSF- 1 semester-member
-Culture club (ongoing)-member
-co founded our high schools 1st newspaper organization; I am currently vice president of the club, as well as webmaster for our school newspaper’s website

  • Founded a medical club. Also, I am co president. Basically, we plan on teaching medical related stuff to the members.
  • Principal’s advisory club- members chosen by the principal; basically, we discussed how to improve the school, etc
    -Mu Alpha Theta-math club- 1 semester-member
  • Junior Varsity Cross Country (1 year)
-Varsity Golf (1 year; I might continue unless I switch over to badminton)

Well, I guess this is it. Please chance me and I’ll chance you back =)

Hey, you have some great extra cirrics.

I’m going to tell you something you probably already know: Your SAT scores…

I would REALLY try to put forth effort and get each subject above 700 (I’m talking for Stanford). You’re writing score is right there. In CR, I went from a 590 to a 690 in just one month (I know, I know I didn’t follow my own advice of “above 700” :P), so if you have any questions, PM me or something. I’d be more than happy to tell you EXACTLY what I did.

Get yourself a review book and work through tests.

But let me get back to your chances. Besides the standardized test scores (which don’t get me wrong, are quite weighty factors), I think you a very good shot (you can never say for sure about Stanford of course).

You have founded/co founded clubs. When you write your essay, write about these sort of “big impact” ECs that you have. Stem cell research is something else that’s interesting and different.

You’re a junior and still have time. It can never hurt to even add something else. If you have a hobby, start a service if possible. I know I used to be quite avidly into magic, but never did anything about it. People who know me will say I’m an excellent magician, but I have nothing to show for it.

What I SHOULD’VE done is started to charge people and perform at parties, thus offering a mini business or service. If you have anything similar hobby wise, etc. start thinking about things like this…

** That was probably the longest reply I’ve ever given to a chance thread, so feel very special hahaha

haha thanks yay=) yea i know about the SAT scores. I really need to bring my scores up. Thanks btw =)

anyone? cmon chance me?

anyone??? please i need opinions on this.

You’re going to come into this thread excited, thinking you finally got another reply, but it’s just me again…

This time I will tell you that it is not necessary to post every half hour. Go to sleep and come back tomorrow or after a few days. You are a junior and should be in no hurry ahaha
