Anyone do JusticeCorps?

I turned in my application before the deadline. Does anyone have any idea how soon and how I’ll be notified for an interview? Also, does anyone know how selective they are? I thought I was a pretty competitive applicant, even though I had no relevant legal related work experience. My GPA is ~3.5 and on my short response essays I wrote how my goals were ultimately to go into public policy or public interest law and I mentioned my background info of being in a low income environment, involvement in non profits (American Cancer Society), and missions. I think I have a good shot, but still, I have no idea how competitive this thing is, haha.

In addition, if you did JusticeCorps, how was it? Did you find it helpful in gaining work experience and helping you decide if you wanted to do law or whatnot?

did you end up getting a call for an interview? ++ does anyone know what they ask in the interviews?

You bumped my thread from last year lol. This feels kinda dumb because now I can answer my own thread.

I ended up getting into the program and I enjoy JC a lot. I think it’s one of the best internships out there if you plan on going into law as you get plenty of experience working with Housing and Family Law (or Small Claims). Plus you will become so familiar with a courthouse just as a pre-med is familiar with a hospital.

As for the interview, Jennifer (the director) asked for a group interview so I was in a room with 3 other students. Some questions she will probably ask are:

1) Why are you interested in JusticeCorps?
2) What do you hope to get out of JusticeCorps?
3) Do you have any previous relevant experience? If so, please talk about it.
4) Do you know what JusticeCorps members do or what the program is all about?
5) Are you bilingual? What other languages other than English do you speak? (Spanish is a huge plus btw…)

For the most part, they seem to take just about anyone that applies as long as they show they can dedicate enough time to the program. They don’t really want you if you’re president of your frat, president of the Culture Club, president of the Film Club, and work 20 hours a week for a part time job. They’ll ask you that if you are involved in those things, which activities would you drop or continue if you were to be accepted into JusticeCorps.
