if you apply to only sky high reach schools there is good chance that you will be going nowhere in the Fall. I know people who only got into their safety schools this year.

I say apply to 5 colleges that are a good fit for a student like you. Then apply to as many as you want that you really love - no matter what rank.

Not at all, I think I will be applying to about only 5 reaches, a few matches… but surprisenly I don’t have any safeties really.

( At first thought this thread would be about one who can’t decided between universities, and decided to pick their selection from a hat… in all not the best way to select, but guess if it turns out your not delighted with the school, only could blame yourself lightly… after all it was random)

I can’t seem to find enough colleges that I really like. =

I have one sky-high (Brown) that I absolutely loved.

I have 3-4 matches/safeties that I’m so-so on. I have to stay within the New England area (parental issues), and I’ve made dozens of visits and can’t seem to find any that match me. Some are too snooty, others too religion-oriented, and some are in crummy areas. =

Don’t apply to all sky-highs though. You’re setting yourself up for disappointment and problems in the future. Include the reaches, but add safeties- most lower-tier schools have low application fees and easy supplements, so it doesn’t hurt to apply.

i know someone who let their dog pick their college for them…he wrote “trinity” on a piece of paper and wrote “connecticut college” on another and held them in front of his dog, who then chose conn. he’ll be a camel in the fall…
