Why not though? Some gay people are cool, some suck. Some straight people are cool, some suck.

I know you asked why he thought they were cool. i answered you.

and u should learn how to quotee like i just did^^ its pretty sweet.

and i cant post today i have to type an oral presentation!

“intresting how the DOS promotes “tolerance” however, when soone with a differnt opionion wants to have a day your principal said “no” hmm seems like he was not being very tolerant!”

Hate speech is not free speech. The tolerance here is not an issue of being tolerant to other viewpoints, it’s an issue of creating a school environment where everyone is accepted and has equal rights.

I’m gay and the co-president of our GSA, and let me just say that the Day of Silence is NOT stupid. You have no idea how many people will tell you that they’ve never even thought about gay people in high school until the GSA starts organizing events like this.

Why are people silent? I don’t get it.

What’s so bad about homosexuality? I don’t really get it. No one has really given a good explanation…the people that I know that are against their lifestyle only argue that the Bible says that its bad… and that’s a terrible argument.

That’s not a terrible argument.

Some people don’t like it because it’s just weird. Plain and simple.

What’s wrong about weirdness? Everyone’s different in their own way…would God hate me because I enjoy recycling? A lot of people I know find that pretty weird…

Recycling is awesome. Good for you.

It’s a different kind of weird though. Not weird like you have a different color for every strand of hair.

Recycling is even more useless than homosexuality (except aluminum, I guess)

Eh, I take pleasure in it, but a lot of things that are enjoyable in life are useless. Either way, homosexuality is just based on different set of beliefs than those of many religions. I don’t really partake in religion too much, I’m agnostic myself. But hey, I’m all for letting them be themselves. As for this Day of Truth thing, as long as there is no hateful language or preaching going on, then hey, everyone has their own thoughts on stuff. Just like the Day of Silence I guess…as long as its done peacefully.

And hey, plastics have petroleum in them, paper has wood in it, and we need to help save some of these rescources…as an after thought ;P

Paper you get is grown on tree farms (so you’re really not saving trees, because those trees are grown for this purpose. Its not like paper companies set up camp in the Yosemites to cut down trees for your paper). It does more harm to the environment to bleach the paper, and costs more to transport the paper to recycling spots. As for petroleum, we have plenty to go around for at least the next 150-200 years.

We must start thinking for the future. And saving any tree is good enough for me; I’m actually hoping for the day when we can say that we all use mostly cotton-fiber based paper.

Jonathon K. if people think being gay is weird its none of their business, they dont have the right to have a whole day to stop their lifestyle. its just hateful and unkind. its so disrespectful.

Don’t you think that statement was a bit hypocritical?

“they dont have the right to have a whole day to stop their lifestyle. its just hateful and unkind. its so disrespectful.”

Then why do queers have the right to have their ‘‘day of silence’’ stuff?

That’s a good point. We shouldn’t try to change the gay people OR the intolerant people

is the day of silence trying to convert straights??? no. is it hateful towards anyone? it is not. stop trying to compare apples and oranges.

well–i think it’s pretty hateful towards intolerant people…just to be fair.

It annoys me.

It’s like, “Okay, everyone. Let’s feel sorry for the gays because everyone hates them.”

It’s so fricken annoying.

fricken annoying is you kid.
