Anyone else feel scammed out of their 'intent to enroll' deposit at SDSU?

Was “admitted” for Fall 2016 only to have it overturned a month later and AFTER I gave my NON-REFUNDABLE deposit of $400. Called to get a refund and I received some BS excuses. How can they ask for a deposit before they receive transcripts or final grades? Where does that money go and HOW MANY STUDENTS did they falsely take money from? I don’t care that I “understood” that it was NON-REFUNDABLE. This is an unacceptable policy and seems like a major SCAM.

Submitting your SIR to a school is not a guarantee. You need to fulfill the provisional admission contract and it does state that the enrollment fee is non-refundable. What was the reason your admission was rescinded? If you feel the policies are unjust, then consider filing an appeal since you have stated that you did not send your final transcript.
Provisional admission requirements are common to all colleges, not just SDSU.

Not sure if you are a Freshman or Transfer.

Freshman Provisional admission:
Admission is based on self-reported information from your CSUMentor application. Once you are provisionally admitted, we will verify this information against your official transcript. Please make sure to report accurate information.
Your admission may be rescinded for reasons such as the following:
your GPA, test scores or course grades are lower than what you reported on the application.
you miss any admission deadlines.
you earn D or F grades in any coursework (not just a–g courses) taken during your senior year.
you misreported or did not complete a required course.

Transfer provisional admission:
If you are admitted, your admission is provisional pending verification of the self-reported information on your CSUMentor and supplemental applications using your official transcript(s). Admission may be rescinded if your GPA, test scores or course grades are lower than what you reported on the application, or if you miss any admission deadlines. To ensure accuracy, refer to your college transcripts or education plan.
