Anyone else getting this call?

I have been repeatedly getting a call on my cell phone consisting of an automated voice saying that this is my “final” notification that the warranty on my vehicle may be about to expire.

My d-in-law says she has been getting this as well…any others out there? Any clue as to what this is about??

Edit: It’s NOT really about my car; of that I am sure!

I get these calls on my cell.

Sounds like some form of phishing. If you’re SURE it’s not your car then don’t give them ANY information.

Cell phones need spam filters.

^^ Amen.

10char

I actually did a google search and discovered that this is, indeed, a scam. So I just registered my cell phone number on the “do not call” registry in hopes the calls will stop. Good grief, what is it with these people???

If you are talking about a recorded conversation about my warranty then yes I am getting them mainly on my direct phone line at work. They have been calling a couple of times a week, but I keep hanging up and never listen to the whole message.

I haven’t received that one. The one I keep getting–on my land phone–is about “the last chance to get a better rate on your credit card.” Oddly enough, it never says which credit card… Right… I do NOT press “one” as requested!

Yup - I get a voice mail on a Cingular cell phone I use a work - but no place else.

WWWOOOOPSY—Last week I just REAMED my BMW dealer for harrassing me with these calls. Time for an apology.

Yeah, I get them on my cell phone as well. My car isn’t even in my name lol.

I get these calls on my home phone, sometimes if you listen to the recording for a bit it will give you the option of pushing a # to be removed from their list.

Yes I get that exact call on my home line though.

I got it on my cell phone, asked my dad whether I needed to do anything with my car, he said no, so I figured it was a scam. :)

Police report?

Stopped shortly after I listed my # with Do not call list.

Sounds like the people we get notices in the mail from…they want to sell me a warranty on my car when the original one runs out or something. Right.

As far as I know, it used to be illegal for auto-dialing telemarketers to call your cell phone numbers if you were paying to recieve calls. May be the times have changed. Filing a complaint with the FCC stopped weekly unsolicited AT&T calls to my H’s T-Mobile number (complaining to AT&T directly did not help). Here is the link for your information:

Or this form can be filled out and mailed.

I get the mail one…a lot…at least I think so; I’ve never actually opened it.

I have been getting them on my Sprint cell for the past month. Each time a different number appears on the caller id. I googled the numbers and apparantely lots of people are being harrassed on their cell phones by these people. I listed my cell number with the do not call registry and also contacted Sprint. They suggested registering with “do not call” and also said they have taken action on their side. What they did, I don’t know, but I haven’t gotten the calls in a week. Do Not Call usually takes 30 days, but I read on a forum that some people are still getting these calls even though they registered.
