Anyone else getting this call?

jym, where did you read about it? Wow, with so many angry phone customers, this guy will need more police protection than Bernie Madoff.

The name is on that list.

[myfoxatlanta.com | FOX 5 Atlanta WAGA](<a href=“FOX 5 Atlanta”>http://www.myfoxatlanta.com/) Pick the “Iteam” tab and select the “auto warrantees” video. I already tried to look up more info about him in local listings. Big surprise-- well concealed.

Actually, whitepages.com pulls up 2 “businesses” -“Ride Assured Warranty” and “Personal Data Systems” as well as what look like 2 residential addresses. No phone #s available. Surprise. This guy was real smug.

^^ Found information on the GA Secty of State Corporation Registration website – names of corporate officers (several repeat in the different corporations), office addresses (also overlap), etc. No phone numbers listed. Maybe they don’t have an incoming phone line-- only outgoing ;)

We get the “last chance car warranty expiring” call on our land line all the time.

Just yesterday I used caller ID and immediately called the 800# that came up with the call and got a recording that the number was not a working number!

crazed, the numbers that they use are usually spoofed.

These calls irritate me to no end!!! Land line – on the “Do Not Call List” – my car is still under original manufacturer’s warranty …

SO I DO NOT NEED YOUR “IMPORTANT INFORMATION” ABOUT MY NON-EXISTENT WARRANTY EXPIRATION. JUST LEAVE ME ALONE!!!

They are doing automated random dialing and then calling back phones that have answering machines or voice mails - they know those numbers are good, live numbers.

I have not gotten any more calls since I pressed one told them that I don’t have a car any more, had to sell it six months ago, and that I am being charged for each call to my cell phone (well, I could be!) so I would like to start billing them for these calls - what address should I send the bill to; the guy said he was putting my cell phone on their own internal do not call list.

The numbers that they are calling from are cloaked somehow.

MidwestMom, you were lucky. My H got a reply “F— you!” and then the guy hang up.

Added: I see an ad at the top of my screen that says “Learn Audio Recording”. Hmmm…

I tried to sound particularly pathetic, so I think the guy felt sorry for me.

Get these all the time too and phone is on national do not call list, hit 1 and told them to take off call list, automatically hit 2 without waiting for message. Nothing works.

If you are feeling particularly peeved and have a little time, there is a couple of things you can do. They will still call but it will make you feel better.

One is the old fashioned advice on obscene phone calls. Keep a whistle by the phone, hit 1, get a live person, then blow the whistle. Mean but effective. Sometimes I try to whistle out a little tune. Really annoys them which is what I want to do.

Other times I act completely clueless.
What kind of car do you have - A Red One.
But what company? - A foreign company I think.
Is it Honda? Toyota? - No, it’s a funny sounding name, like absomoto.
Can you give me the VIN number? - I don’t know anyone named VIN. Is that your name? What is it short for, Vincent?
No, the VIN NUMBE_R. - Is that like the little number the cashier scans at the store? I’m sorry, I didn’t keep the receipt.

Oh Oh, I better get off the phone. My parents just got home and they said I’m not suppose to answer the phone until I’m 12. Nice talking to you.

LOL zixxa! How long can you keep them on the phone?? One guy inNY (shown on the TV clip I linked above) told them he had a modified tank-- but not to worry-- it was legal for road use.

“Is it Honda? Toyota? - No, it’s a funny sounding name, like absomoto.” LOL!

A bunch of replies: “I dunno. The bumper is so rusty, I can’t read what it says on it” Or “the local punk kids stole my hood ornament, and I can’t remember what it was” Or: “Let me go outside and check to be completely sure”

We’ve been getting these calls on our landline AND our cell phones. Our cars have been off warranty for YEARS.

Like I said earlier in this thread, the only way I was able to cope with these calls to my land line was to just stop answering my phone. That’s what answering machines are for. My friends and work know to call on my cell.

Now, if I start getting the warranty calls on my cell, I will probably go ballistic, because I don’t have free incoming.

I was just on the phone when a call beeped in. I didnt answer it, as the caller ID identified the call as from “warranty alert”. The phone # is, according to the on line white pages, a cellphone in Miami. Anyone willing to call it?? I have not tried it. The # on the caller ID was 786-369-7342.

I’m heading out of the country in a few days and need my cell phone for emergency calls. I am going to be very PO’d for each warranty sales pitch I get at $1.50 or so per call, especially since I get several per week.

Sure wish someone would enforce the law. Guess it is too much to hope for, though.

I get it on home phone + business line.

Just got my first one of these calls yesterday and thought immediately of this thread! Now I’m dying for them to call back so I can use zixxa’s tactics on them- reminds me of a family friend who would always tell telemarketers that unless (insert product being sold here) came with a free toaster, he wouldn’t buy it. Hope I get to talk to them again! If enough people act REALLY stupid or ask to what address we can forward our bills, maybe they’ll get irritated enough to stop calling!

I used to do market research calls (not sales, but still intrusive!) while on break from college. Believe me, the people making these calls are earning near-minimum wage and are probably kids trying to earn tuition $. I imagine anything a recipient could say to them would likely have little impact on the company decision to make the calls. I knew a guy (smart, a lawyer) who would regal us w/tales of the yelling/aggressive things he’s say to telemarketers. I’d wonder-- do you think these kids making the calls have the corp PR officer’s ear & will convey your message? I just say, ‘no thank you’ & hang up
