Anyone Else Have Trouble Getting More 'Involved'?

Perhaps the title’s a bit weird but I have a sort of annoying problem where I’m just really dead after a long day of classes. Like the feeling some people have after they’ve had classes from morning till afternoon and now they realize they still have to go out and do a bunch of stuff (club meetings, sports, friends, whatever your particular passion is) before they can call it quits for the day.

I know, I know; who isn’t drained after a day of tests, quizzes, and running around from class to class? I don’t really mean as in I don’t get my homework done in a timely manner or anything but I want to get out and do more than call it quits after class is done. Like going out to practice my tennis after a long day of school or actually getting enough enthusiasm to get out and commit to some clubs or teams or what have you. College is just mentally and physically draining sometimes and I skip over a lot of stuff sometimes because I’m just too tired or uninterested, like my friends invite me out on Friday night to go to parties, or a club has a meeting on Wednesday evening, or getting a workout in before school starts some mornings.

I know this question’s vague but I can’t be the only one who’s feeling ‘blah’ after a long day of classes. It’s not a sleep issue, diet issue (both of which are fine for me, so it’s not like I physically don’t have the energy), or that I have too many credits but I’d like to make the most of college and not just go through going to classes and doing homework.

It really just comes down to dragging yourself out and doing stuff. Then after a week, it becomes a lot easier to drag yourself out to go do that stuff.

LOL I know what you are talking about… I love sitting and not being really productive in my freetime so I’m like dead after classes (I have 2 majors + 1 minor). I usually have like 10-9 schedule Monday-Thurs so I’m dead most of the week o_O I only went out on weekends ^^;;

In my first two quarters, I did have that problem where my days were constantly repetitive with just classes and homework. I did want to participate more outside of class but it seemed like classes took over most of my life and I just couldn’t do it. I was tired and drained and I had a lot of homework to do for the next day and it was too much to fall behind. By spring quarter, however, I started to get used to the pace and the workload so adding an extracurricular or two wasn’t that bad. It’s all about time management on your part and learning how much you can handle. You just need an extra push to get yourself through the tiredness, extend your endurance a little more. Just learn how to manage your time a little better and push yourself that first week or so when you feel swamped. After a while, you will get used to the heavy load and pace and it’ll be a little easier.
