To answer some questions - She does have chores and I added her to a small chore chart that I have since we rotate chores among the kids. I know her best friend and her best friend’s mother. Anyone driving her has to come to the door and meet me or my husband, and we must have their name and phone number as well.
As I mentioned earlier in the thread, we’ve lived in her home country. I am well aware of the cultural expectations for freedom, etc. with teenagers. We are falling somewhere between what she experiences at home and overprotective American parents. We barely know her, and it’s hard to have the same trust in her that we do with our 17yo, who has spent her whole life building our trust in her. Her behavior in our house doesn’t inspire much confidence at this point. We are working on it. Fortunately, she goes to the same high school as my older kids, and I do know her best friend and her best friend’s family and some other people in her life.
