My college daughter and several of her friends are rereading all of the HP books in anticipation of seeing the movie this Thursday at midnight. This morning I also picked up the first book again, although not sure when I will see the movie (love the books but think the movies are just okay). Anyone else?

I love the books, too. I guess I love the movies. But that’s because I don’t compare them to the books. I’m really looking forward to this last movie. It coincides nicely with my own kids finishing high school. And, since we’ve all read the books (together aloud the first time), I guess I’m sentimental about it like a rite of passage.

I’m so glad this film is getting good reviews.

I’ve got the most recent movie and plan to watch it sometime in the next week. At the library where I work, the books have been going out more often then normal, but not as much as when the last movie came out.

I’m rereading the last book right now. I do like the books more than the movies, but am looking forward to seeing this one. S2 is skimming the last book. I have read some of them 3 times, I reread this one before the first part came out and now reading again! I hope the reviewers are right. I posted on the other thread, my S2 also feels like this is the end of his childhood.

Though I am not a HP fan myself (just never got started I guess) I can’t wait for the movie cause MY KIDS ARE DRIVING ME CRAZY IN ANTICIPATION OF IT!!!
2 of them have read all of the books at least twice and have been watching the various movies all summer long. Spent an hour at Barnes and Noble gleaming over the various Harry Potter books/merchandise and D2 has her Potter wand ready to go!

Count me in! I’ve been trying to savor them, because it is the last rereading before a movie/book release. Anyone else signed up for Pottermore?

I’ve read the entire series more times than I can remember. Every summer I re-read the series. And each time a new movie comes out, I always re-read the book it’s based on and the one prior. We’ve always loved going to the each movie as it is released and then spend the whole car ride home discussing every way in which the book and movie differ. Though we’ve been in line for midnight book releases, this will be the first midnight movie for my husband and I. Our kids, of course, have done the midnight showings in the past.

AZKMom: We also discuss on the way home what was different in the movie/book. I think that is one problem with rereading the book right before the movie comes out, everything is fresh in your mind. That’s one reason why I don’t like the movies as much, they can’t fit everything in the movie from the book and sometimes I feel that they leave out some crucial stuff.

Theatrebrat: I signed up for Pottermore the first day. I don’t think that S2 did.

Yes, ever since the first movie left out the part about Hermione solving Snape’s potions riddles, I have not liked the movies as much as the books. On the other hand, sometimes the movies leave out so much that I can’t imagine how anyone could follow the story unless he or she HAD read the books.

I run a harry potter roleplay website in my free time, so we are crazy with anticipation here.
This is the first time I’m not going to a midnight show, or even on opening day. Not happy about it but it conflicts with work.

I’m not the kind of person that /ever/ compares a movie and a book critically, so I happily enjoy both.
