Anyone else try Life Lock for identity theft protection

I’ve had a number of incidents of identity theft, where someone had my social security number and date of birth and contacted my credit card companies requesting new cards be sent to them. have repeatedly had to cancel cards, so far lucky no significant financial impact. I have a credit monitoring plan which seems limited and it’s expiring so I signed up for a trial of Life Lock. Anyone use it? experiences with it, helpful?

I signed up with Debix [Debix Data Breach Response Services | Debix Identity Protection](http://debix.com/index.php) after reading an article about them online. My husband’s wallet was stolen at a turnpike rest stop and we decided it might be a good idea to monitor our credit in this way for a while. We haven’t had any problems yet (knock on wood) but it’s good to know this backup system is there.

Do a Google search on the founder of Lifelock. You may quickly re-consIder your trial.

Hope you aren’t out much.

thanks for info…

risk free trial, can cancel within 60 days

You can put a security freeze on your credit reports at the major credit bureaus to achieve the same result–google for plenty of info. I could be mistaken, but I think this the gist of what LifeLock does anyway.

MommaJ is correct. Do you ever listening to Clark Howard’s radio show? If not, visit his website: [Clark Howard: Save More, Spend Less and Avoid Rip-offs | www.clarkhoward.com](<a href=“Clark.com - Advice You Can Trust From Clark Howard and Team Clark”>http://www.clarkhoward.com/)

He has stressed for MANY years that if you’re not in the market for new credit (cards, loans, etc.), you should lock your credit down with all 3 bureaus. Each state has it’s own one-time or no charge to lock your credit and another low or no fee if you need to unlock to apply for credit. However since you’ve already been a victim, any fees should be waived for you.

"College students and young people in general are among the most-targeted groups by identity thieves.

The Better Business Bureau reports that a quarter of all identity theft cases are among college kids. Meanwhile, a FOX TV affiliate cited different data from the Federal Trade Commission that said young adults age 18-29 represent the largest segment of people hit by identity thieves."

Clark Howard’s site is so chock full of consumer information that I thought it might help to provide a direct link on how to freeze and thaw your credit:
