I registered for housing fairly late, and now I am stuck in a transitional hall with 5+ other people until they get us situated in dorm rooms. They said there is a chance they will find my roommates + a triple room in time, but I leave on saturday, and I’m afraid they wont. Im just worried because now I’ll be starting late on the social aspect of college. I mean if I wont know who my roommate is 2 weeks into the semester, that will kind of suck…

Don’t worry. You will be taking classes, you could join clubs, attend welcome-week events. Don’t make it a big deal. You can even invite new friends to know your transitional hall!

The roommate thing is overrated. It really doesn’t matter. Chances are you aren’t going to need to talk to them about anything before you move in and you will prob not become best friends with them. Your roommate is not the only social aspect of college.

Honestly, your classes and the activities you do will help you more socially than knowing who your roommate is.

At my school people don’t stay in temp housing for very long.

The dorm I’m staying in was built as a temporary hall… it was built in the 70s and is still standing/used now, although efforts to tear it down surface every other year or so. o.O

Don’t throw yourself a pity party. Embrace what you have and make the most of it. Seriously, if your social life hinges on where you’re staying, then that might be something that you want to work on. Concentrate on doing well in your classes and meeting new people… your dorm situation will work itself out.

Im not throwing a pity party. I just wanted to know my roomates so I could go out with them ect…

Like I’m gonna have to make another trip home now once I figure out who they are to take stuff home / bring it up
