anyone familiar with 'gap year'?

<p>Are adcoms familiar with the idea of a ‘gap year’? I’m British and I’m currently taking a gap year. Need to explain that on my forms, but if ‘gap year’ means the same in the US as in Britain, I can save a lot of words.</p>
