Anyone Following the Arkansas Oil Spill?

<p>I didn’t know Exxon owned the wetlands, or could arrest people.</p>

<p>I cannot fathom how they could put an oil pipeline under residential housing, and no one knew it. How do zoning laws, much less real estate law, countenance such a thing.</p>

<p>And how does Exxon stop people from walking around their own neighborhood without declaring marshal law?</p>

<p>Exxon’s ham-handed takeover of this town is being done in the name of expediting the cleanup. But it’s hard to see how air traffic could impede operations. Yet Exxon even has control of the skies:</p>

<p>You just can’t make this stuff up. Unbelievable.</p>

<p>This is outrageous. Is any mainstream media picking it up? Where’s NYT?</p>

<p>Why are oil companies allowed privacy in cleaning up their own spill? Why isn’t a government agency in their supervising things? Like CDC would take control of an epidemic situation? After all this affects the health of many citizens and wildlife. </p>

<p>I heard Keystone jobs numbers were overblown and, and after 1-2 years of temporary jobs constructing the thing, there will only be 35 permanent jobs created, this from the State Dept.</p>

<p>The pipeline was built in 1947-48 at a time when there was no development in this area.</p>
