anyone from Bellaire High School

I heard that it is very competitive, how hard it is to get in the top 10% and what percentages can get in Rice, UT?

What pros and cons compared to Clements High School?

Bellaire at one time was in top 100 schools in the nation. Like other schools in Houston, it has a 3 tier education system, AP/IB, honors, and advanced. There are probably 1/4th or fewer taking AP/IB classes which contribute to national ranking and so they are having to make up the average for the rest of the school. The competition at the top is usually pretty tough and many students who would have done well in other schools end up not being so highly ranked at Bellaire. They usually have between 30 and 40 National merit semi-finalists each year, the largest in Houston public school system and about 3-5% of each graduating class of about 800.

They send 10-20 students to Rice each year and about 50-60 to UT.

Clements is a very competitive suburban school. It has a very high Asian representation. They usually have 25-30 national merit semi finalists each year. It looks like their SAT score averages quite close to those at Bellaire.

Many do go to UT and Rice although I am not able to find any spread listed for Clements.
