Anyone from central NC?

We’re just fact gathering at the moment.
There’s a possibility that we may be moving to the Triangle area. While we lived in the Cary area when S19 was a toddler, I’m sure a ton has changed.
We’re looking at a few schools for S26, as well as houses. Getting a little discouraged as we’d really prefer Chapel Hill, but housing isn’t especially abundant in our price range. Apex looks promising, Apex High in particular. The housing is far more affordable, but I don’t know how Apex High is compared to Chapel Hill High and East Chapel Hill High. Also, Apex basically didn’t exist when we were there. What’s it like now?

Also, what’s fun?! Last time we were there, we were more the ‘where’s the nearest swing set & sand box’ kind of family. We’re a bit past that now!! LOL
We know about the Durham Bulls & obviously watching Duke & UNC play baseball, basketball. Restaurant scene looks pretty good from what I’ve seen so far. What about like museums, theaters, book shops?? Anything else you can think of would be great.

I don’t have any information for you, but the area is on our potential list of retirement places. The two areas I “liked” after doing just a little reading were Meadowmont and Southern Village. Meadowmont seems very expensive, and I haven’t looked much at real estate in southern Village. We have no kids at home, so We are not worried about schools. But we want someplace very safe and somewhat walkable.

Don’t have much info for you, sorry. Only thing I can say is that I know there are parts of Durham that aren’t as safe as other areas. CH looks like the most expensive part of the whole area… at least what we’ve seen so far. Apex seems nice, much more affordable. Doesn’t seem as built up though so I don’t know how much walkability there is. I think there’s a cute downtown though!
