<p>John C. Reilly in Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story - hilarious! A send-up of every film made about the music industry from the late 40s to 2007. Like This is Spinal Tap and The Mighty Wind on LSD. Many out-loud laughs.</p>
<p>Also saw Johnny Depp in his journey into dark musicals Sweeney Todd. Very good. Edward Scissorhands grew up to become Sweeney Todd.</p>
<p>Next up (I have a week off work), Kite Runner, Into the Wild, and Charlie Wilson’s War. And if I’m not burned out, our $1 theater has Across the Universe, and The Bee Movie.</p>
<p>We tried to go to the movies today. At our local 12 theatre complex, lines were to the ends of the building and people had parked all over grass mediums and construction sites. We turned around and left. Sweeney Todd was on our list.</p>
<p>juno was great–and for parents of teens, you guys would probably really enjoy it. essentially it’s about an “offbeat” teenager, juno, who gets pregnant and how she and her family deal with her pregnancy and her quest to find good adoptive parents. </p>
<p>no country for old men also got good critics reviews, but it seems kinda dark and i know i don’t always agree with them.</p>
<p>I just came from seeing Sweeney Todd and thought it was well done. My daughter had seen it earlier in the week and I was tipped off that the throat cutting was gruesome and so knew to close my eyes for a few seconds. I’ve seen the musical and thought this was a good adaptation. </p>
<p>My kids are in another state with their grandparents and saw Charlie Wilson’s War today.</p>

<p>DD (15), my mom and I saw Enchanted. A great movie for such a wide age-range, and very light and happy on Xmas Eve.</p>
<p>Hubby, DS (18) and my dad saw I Am Legend. Very intense, very dark. They said it was good, but it certainly wouldn’t have been my choice on Xmas eve. BTW, if you’re a dog lover and go to see this movie you may find part of it disturbing.</p>
<p>My H wants to see country for old men- not really the sort of thing I like- but I love Javier Bardem- quite different from other films Ive seen him in though.</p>
<p>Ive seen the trailer for Walk Hard- pretty funny altough I haven’t seen any other of the directors movies-

I just rented the Good German so may try and go see George Clooneys other movie that may still be out-
Oh and Atonement.</p>
<p>We went and saw Enchanted. It was quite good. But I still kinda miss those Christmases of past years when there was a new Star Trek movie or new installment of The Lord of the Rings to be seen. Everything else seems tame by comparison.</p>
<p>Consider Charlie Wilson’s War, especially if the lines for the more popular movies are too long. It’s much better than you’d think, perhaps because Aaron Sorkin (creator of The West Wing) wrote the screenplay.</p>
<p>Saw Juno yesterday evening. It’s not the most profound movie ever, but there was absolutely nothing I didn’t love about it. Great script, good soundtrack, and great, great acting. Ellen Page completely makes the movie – she has to be the discovery of the year. She’s on the screen with Michael Cera, Jason Bateman, Jennifer Garner, Allison Janney, and she completely dominates your attention.</p>
<p>We also saw Charlie Wilson’s War on Friday. Another basically slight but completely entertaining movie.</p>
<p>We also saw Walk Hard with our 18 year old D–it was her pick. VERY funny–but it’s rated R and there are shots, although NOT erotic AT ALL, of a certain body part that I have NEVER seen in a mainstream movie. I’m not trying to spoil things for anyone, but just be aware if you are either going with your teen/young adult–or if you’re taking a younger child–especially a girl.</p>
<p>We don’t normally have time to do movies before Christmas but now will fit in a few, I guess. We have no natural snow so there’ll be no skiing this week.</p>
<p>National Treasure II - quite disappointed … liked the first one and this was not nearly as fun</p>
<p>I am Legend - high expectations that were in no way met … weird non-logical plot line … and just wierd overall. Will Smith did a great job in a bad role though.</p>

<p>I’m Not There. Cate Blanchett was spectacular as Bob Dylan.
Unlike anything else I have seen her do. Movie is hard to follow if you are unfamiliar with Dylan or haven’t read a few reviews.</p>
<p>Thoroughly enjoyed Charlie Wilson’s War. Again, Julia Roberts like I’ve never seen her before.</p>
<p>I’ve seen pretty much most of the films out right now. No Country for Old Men and Into the Wild are the two best films of the year by far.</p>
<p>Anyway, I saw Atonement with my parents (and then went out for chinese food :D). Atonement was a solid, well done movie. I didnt think it was remotely close to the level of NCFOM or Into the Wild, but I enjoyed it. It’s a ridiculously slow movie though.</p>
