I’m planning to transfer for 2012 fall and I’m just curious that what kind of
GPA and other stuffs would put me into the competitive spot.

If you are accepted or know someone who is accepted, please post me a reply
so I can learn from it!

Hello! I was accepted into Business Administration for Fall 2011 at UCI. I was pretty worried that I might not get in since it’s one of the majors that do not participate in TAG. Anyway, I’m in my second year of CCC right now and I’ve gotten 4.0’s each semester. One thing that really worried me when I read all these posts on CC is that some people said that you’re at a huge disadvantage if you don’t complete IGETC and major prereqs by the time you submit your application. However, this was not the case for me! I’m currently taking THREE prereqs (managerial accounting, principles of microeconomics, and calc II) and TWO igetc courses (chem and chem lab) this semester! So having them done by the SPRING semester before transfer seems fine to me, just make sure you record them as “planned” on your application and then “in progress” once you do the transfer course update. As far as extracurriculars, I honestly don’t have many. I didn’t have any work experience until AFTER I submitted the application. I’m treasurer of a cultural club at my CC and talked about how that gave me some business experience in my personal statement. I also added volunteer experience from high school that has nothing to do with business. I’m also a member of PTK (which looks pretty good, in my opinion, on the application AND will help you find scholarships) and was on the dean’s list. So I think my gpa played a huge role in my acceptance since I don’t have many extracurriculars. But if it helps, I emphasized how the few extracurriculars I do have gave me an interest in business and taught me “the basics” in my personal statement. Good luck!!!
