hi
I’m going to be an undergrad in fall 2014 and I am in letters and sciences at UMD. UMD sent me a letter saying I was chosen to take part in this Carillon Communities. I never heard of it, so I was wondering if this is a special program for ppl in letters and sciences and is this something that I should part take in.

Thanks!

I had never heard of this program before so I looked it up. Yes, it is for students in Letters and Sciences. The link gives some info about it. Sounds like an interesting living and learning program.

Yay - glad they finally addressed the issue of offering living-learning communities for students at large. I would definitely take advantage of it. Thanks for posting the question - I wouldn’t have known about it otherwise and I am really happy to hear about it!!!

FYI, Easton dorm (homes for iGive and Once and Future Planet) is also where the engineering living and learning community programs (Flexus and Virtus) are housed. So, anyone who was not admitted to Clark but is looking to transfer in can take advantage of being housed with engineering students…

Ooh - even better news about the new Carillon LLC 's - curiosity led me to look the classes up on testudo and it looks like they are restricting enrollment in the “required” class to students in these programs - so guaranteed seats…the GEOL124 (Once and Future) doesn’t even appear on testudo yet, and the PUAF214 (iGive) states it’s restricted to the program. Only ENGL271 (Write Now) appears without restrictions but I suspect they will create a section specifically limited to the program. It’s still early, so they are likely taking care of those details now so they will be finished in time for orientation.
