Anyone have a Flip Nano Mini HD Camcorder?

Just wondering if anybody has purchased one of those tiny Flip Nano Mini HD Camcorders…I saw one @ Costco today and was debating it as a high school grad gift for our D as I think she’d enjoy a camcorder at college.

One complaint I had heard was that if you moved even slightly the picture got blurred.

Eager to hear if anyone likes it or if you suggest a better alternative in same aprox. price range of $200 (if possible).

Thanks!

Just got one. Haven’t used it much, but know that it doesn’t zoom very tight. Kids have the regular ones and love them for their purposes.

My son has a Flip Mino HD and he enjoyed it, but he now says that he should sell it because for his graduation we bought a Canon Powershot camera for him (he got it early because he needed a camera) and he can film from the Canon too. He says that the quality of what he films is much better than the quality from his Flip. Before the Canon, he very much enjoyed his Flip Mino. Hope this helps. BTW, I told him that I want him to keep his Flip as well.

This is what we bought, but DH thinks he paid $199 for it:

thank you both for your input! We got her a nice Single Reflex digital camera for her bday a couple years ago and she loves using it. Thank you for the link. Lets hope they don’t lose all this equipment once they arrive at college lol.

I have the Flip Mini HD ( I’m pretty sure it’s that one!) -definitely HD.

I love it. I always carry it in my purse and it’s ready to go. Love sharing the videos with family and keep them downloaded/filed on my computer. Haven’t made a DVD with it yet, but I have actually been really pleased with the quality of the video. Even took it to my father-in-laws today and used it to video the content of his house for future reference. Easy-peasy.

thriftymom, I hope that nothing happens to their belongings. I do plan on taking out student insurance because a camera, laptop, printer, etc. adds up to a small fortune!

really abasket? Maybe I’ll get one for myself too  oh wait there is tuition to think about…never mind lol.

northeastmom, that is a GREAT idea…I am going to write it down! I never thought to do that, thanks. I DO need to write stuff down tho’ so I will remember :)

Before buying, I suggest you check out the reviews on Amazon. We got one, but it wouldn’t charge. After I looked at the reviews on Amazon, I found that this was a common problem. It took a couple of weeks back and forth with the manufacture before we got an RMA to return. They sent us a new one–and it has the same charging problem! At this point, we’re giving up on trying to return this one too, and will just use non-rechargeable batteries. On the plus side, it’s very cute, easy to use, and takes high enough quality pictures they even look good on our big-screen TV. If the could only get the problems with charging (and cusomer service!) worked out, this would be a great device.

thanks for the heads-up momOf3…I am so glad I asked advice in the Cafe, I knew I could count on all of you!
